The White Hart, Billericay

A nice enough pub, if nothing special. Friendly staff and locals, not too expensive, plenty of seats and not too expensive. Fine for a night with a couple of mates and a chat, but if you're looking for anything exciting you'll probably find yourself moving on.

(It's also re-branded itself as Billericay's only 50's and 60's theme pub, but don't hold that against it!)

The Crown, Billericay

A nice pub at the bottom end of the High Street. got a big makeover at the end of 2004 which has brightened the place up no end. Live music and dj's at weekends and they manage to keep the kids out which is always a bonus. Can sometimes feel a bit soul-less, but worth checking out at least once.

The Rising Sun, Billericay

A nice enough pub, but can sometimes feel empty since they clamped down on the kids who would populate the pool table. A welcoming place which suits if you just want a pub to go to for a chat and a couple of drinks. If you want anything more than this you'll probably find yourself heading somewhere else.

The Red Lion, Billericay

One of the best pubs in Billericay. A good crowd, the usual beers and plenty of barstaff at weekends combine to make this one of the most popular pubs in town. It's expensive, but then you pay for what you get here.

The Inn on the Green, Billericay

On paper this should be a great pub - spacious, sport on the telly, food, pool table, big garden - but the one thing letting the place down is the custom. People acting as though they own the place and groups of kids getting pissed is the one thing that stops this being a nice pub. Shame.

The Chequers, Billericay

Since being bought from the brewery in 2005, the pub seems much better run but at the loss of the cheap drinks. Theme nights are a really good laugh and though the pub can be uncomfortably full at weekends - and very smokey - it probably has the best atmosphere in Billericay.

The Blue Boar, Billericay

During the day this is quite a nice pub - even if it does have the look of a warehouse about it - where you can get a comfy seat and cheap food/drinks. Weekends after 6pm are a whole different story though as the place becomes rammed and just getting to the bar can take up a fair amount of your night. Fair point about the staff though - they do work hard in the face of some real idiots at the bar.
