The Fat Cat, Norwich

The good news first, excellent range of beers and cider, friendly, normal locals, exceptionally clean and that includes the outside areas frequented by smokers. Bad news £7 for a pint of stout and G&T served by a cocky barman and the table cleared by a bloke in shorts. Sorry to say it , but it's too expensive for a back street Norwich pub. However, the good side outweighs the bad. Meaning I'll mark it up to 8.

The Whiffler, Norwich

Had a pleasant surprise on a rare visit to the Whiffler. I must comment on the improvements made to the garden area, very pleasant place to enjoy a drink and a meal. Well done 'Spoons.

Gatehouse, Norwich

I've used this pub on a couple of occasions. It occupies an excellent location with a large lawned riverside garden. Unfortunately the premises have seen better times and are in need of refurbishment. This is a shame as the historic interior of the pub has beenfeatured in a recent edition of the Norfolk Nips CAMRA periodical. The bow tie wearing, exotic waistcoated, long haired landlord has a small but loyal clientele and supplies a friendly but quirky drinking experience.

Gibraltar Gardens, Norwich

Friendly bar staff. Normal customers. Quite pleasant experience with two real ales available. Much of the interior has is interesting original features apart from a pair of tatty sofas. I've seen better in the front garden of a house nearby.

The Fat Cat, Norwich

Superb beers, excellent service. But spoiled by one or two locals who cannot complete a sentence without using the F word. Disappointing.

Maltsters, Cheshunt

Surprised to see some of these comments.Because I normally find Mc Mullens pubs well worth the visit. But did find the Maltsters a bit scruffy. The night I was in there 2 lousy dogs were rolling around on the tired carpets. But can report the ale was drinkable

The King James, Cheshunt

Visited this pub in August 2006.while staying at the excellent Youth Hostel which is situated nearby in the wonderful Lee Valley Country Park.Once again I was made to feel uncomfortable by the antics of some of the customers including smoking in family dining area.a fight breaking out.All this on a Tuesday evening at 7PM .Whats it like when things really warm up.Thankfully I wont be there to witness it

The Pymmes Park Inn, Edmonton

In the 1970's this pub was my local and in those far off days it was a popular place to visit.I recently walked past and felt saddened by the state of it,but it isn't alone unfortunately.

The Plasterers Arms, Norwich

This pub used to be a favourite of mine and was run a character who used to collect weird and wonderful ornaments which were on display in the bar.One artefact that springs to mind was a pair of stuffed mating squirrels,The beer and atmosphere was unique as well.Sorry to say but this pub is now in my Norwich pub list of shame ,once again owing to rude barstaff.

The Shed, Norwich

I like the Shed.Have been in a couple of times wonderful selection of ales, many of them kept in a tap room.Pleasant atmosphere with normal customers. They do have live music a couple of evenings and Sunday afternoons.A great new pub for Sprowston rd.

The New Inn, Rockland St Mary

Stayed overnight here in September 2005.Very handy location on the Wherrymans Way footpath. The pub is food based but has a comfortable bar serving Adnams Broadside. The owners have done a great deal of work renovating a run down pub.Well worth the visit.

Glasshouse, Norwich

sorry to hear these bad reviews about the Glasshouse.I use this pub once a week and most times found it a pleasant experience-good choice of real ales ,good mix of drinkers, friendly bar staff but this idyllic scene is in the early afternoon. You cant keep blaming Wetherspoons for societys problems.
