Nice friendly pub with welcoming staff & atmosphere enhanced by good well kept beers and blazing fire in iron stove. Did not try the food but I expect to go back soon so maybe then. One of the best in the Hope Valley. Cheers.

What's going on here? The previous post doesn't even mention the word beer! There are plenty of hotel review sites around on the net so why don't you go there if you want to have a moan about a hotel? For the record the beer was good here both in choice and condition and the staff very friendly. The atmosphere was warm and cosy. I would definitely go here again.

Yes I agree. A bit of friendly service goes a long way. This is the first time I've been in for ages due to the previous poor atmosphere / service / everything really and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Thing must have improved considerably since John Hallam's review.
I found the pub to be very clean, tidy, comfortable & friendly with the usual JS beers on tap.
I will definitely go there again if passing but it's not exactly on the beaten track.

A decent little pub that definitely does not need Karaoke which should be left in back in Japan where it belongs.
