The Fish Inn, Ringwood

I took my family here today (Sunday) for lunch, after the recent refurb. Despite there being a notice on the bar saying they were a chef down and the food may take a while, our starters arrived within 15 minutes and were excellent. For mains we had two roasts and two from the a la carte menu, and again all of them were excellent. This is the first pub I've been to in a long time where the plates were warmed and the food was piping hot. The staff were knowlegeable and very friendly. We spend several minutes admiring the cars in the car park from the Lotus Owners Club. I really rate this place. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

Nice to know there's so many people who won't be going back. That means that those of us who think this is a good pub will no longer have to queue! Seriously, I've never had a problem with queues, and it's lovely to sit outside in the summer and take in the sunshine and peacefulness.

Fox & Hounds, Wimborne

Excellent menu and beer, and reasonably priced. Advisable to book on Sunday lunchtimes as it gets busy after 1. Huge beer garden with children's play area. Since moving to Ferndown this has been my local, and I thoroughly recommend it.

Derehams Inn, Loudwater

This is a great traditional drinkers pub. Friendly staff and local clientele, well kept beer including guest ales. Food at lunchtime only, but free nibbles on the bar. Well worth a visit.

I agree with everything said before. I made the mistake of visiting with my girlfriend for lunch. She ordered off the menu and I chose a carvery, but had to queue for 30 minutes to get it, by which time her food had arrived and got cold. Mine was also lukewarm by the time I got back to the table, so we had a go at the manager and walked out without paying. Don't go there. It's crap.

The George, Fordingbridge

This is a great pub, and there is no finer way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon than sitting outside by the river. The food is good and the portions large, particularly the roasts. During the winter there is a huge log fire in the bar. This is still very much a drinkers pub.
