Just back from lunch there today. Loved it. Great garden out back,

Pub looks a bit old fashioned as you walk in, although lots of comfy leather sofas to the side.
Pride, Otter and a guest beer all well kept. Staff are very friendly and food is absolutely top notch. Cheap B&B rooms upstairs.
Strongly recommend.

Need to get their act together. Unhelpful, overpriced and slow.
Looks decent enough at first glance, so as my both wifes and my memory dims after 6 months or so we go back in. Always regret it for some reason or other.

The Crab at Chieveley, Wantage
This place got slaughtered in a 1 star review by AA Gill, however I think he's nuts. Its certainly got a bit of the Faulty Towers about it, but its fundementally a quality joint, and I enjoy a bit of comedy service as it does not detract from a relaxed drinking area, great food and excellent cheese board.
Rooms are great also, reasonable priced, and decked out in good style.

The Inn On The Lake, Godalming
Went there last night, started badly - from the ales only Pride available, had run out of limes and cranberry juice. Glasses were dirty at the table and ran out of our wine 3 or 4 bottles in.
On the plus side, the food went down well with everyone, the place has a decent atmosphere, and the guy who was serving, young chap, was excellent.

One of the best summer pubs around, they have excellent West Berkshire brewery beer on tap, food is a selection of local game and I'd strongly recommend the Pizza evening on Sundays during the summer.

The Winterbourne Arms, Winterbourne
Decent country pub, staff a bit erratic, but decent beer garden out front and very good food.

The Star Inn, Newbury
Dropped in for a pint and a bite to eat, quite liked it, nicely done out without too much rustic bling, food, pint and service all good. Better than a lot of places around here
