Fox and Hounds, Church Crookham

Visited again a few Saturdays ago on a nice sunny afternoon. Top pub - ten out of ten for atmosphere and location. Also recommend the live music on Friday nights. The management really make an effort - very lively, friendly pub on the canal.

The Prince Arthur, Fleet

I was pleasantly surprised by a visit on Saturday. Hadn't been there in ages as it got really quite awful for a time, but we were after cheap grub. How it's changed! No hoardes of tracksuit clad chavs swearing! Quite quiet in fact. Cute barmaid who joked with all the customers at the bar, really friendly and happy-go-lucky. Quick service. Good real ale. Good (and more importantly cheap!) food which turned up in ten minutes flat.

So I think I may give Spoonies another chance.

Ember Inns execs please take note. This pub is in real danger of losing regulars like myself. With its excellent location and great big garden, together with traditionally relaxed atmosphere and real ales it's normally my pub of choice. BUT... management has let the place slide of late - it's desperately short staffed more than anything. As has been pointed out, toilets are a disgrace. The beer garden hasn't seen a lawnmower in what looks like years. Frequently all the tables have dirty plates, glasses etc on them. Decor is getting tatty and it needs a refurb. With more staff this could be a really great pub. Cut the grass. Clear the tables. Get more serving staff on!

The Links, Fleet

Easily the crappiest pub in Fleet. Service is INCREDIBLY slow. Staff seem willfully lazy. Drinks range is really poor - uninspiring generic lager only. Had a bottle of Corona which was actually warm... at over three quid!!! Then a double G&T set me back about a fiver! Clientelle tend to be drawn from the worst elements of society for the most part. About as much fun as Auschwitz. Avoid this s**t hole like the proverbial plague - there are far better pubs in the town centre.

The Crown and Cushion, Blackwater

Great little boozer. I don't go to pubs to eat Sunday lunch, and frankly anywhere that has such a low turnover of Smirnoff Ice that it goes out of date gets my seal of approval! Great Shepherd Neame ales, top atmosphere, a superb pub.

The Foresters, Church Crookham

After the change of ownership a few years back turned from a decent spit & sawdust dingy local into an annoying foodie pub with a spectacularly grumpy and unpleasant landlord. Avoid like the plague.

The Oatsheaf, Fleet

Consistently the best pub in town, more grown up, as has been said by others. At its best during the summer months due to the large garden, but also nice in the winter with its open fires and high backed arm chairs.

Propaganda, Fleet

Still a great place due to table service, great atmos etc., but has blotted its copy book on a few recent visits by running out of ale - pretty inexcusable in my book, but probably just suffering a bit from lack of staff combined with its popularity.

Fox and Hounds, Church Crookham

Teriffic pub! Yes, it is a bit of a locals place, but the locals don't bite! Very friendly atmosphere, excellent and well kept beer, and good food at reasonable prices. My favourite place in Fleet - makes me wish I lived over Church Crookham end rather than Pondtail, then it'd be my local.

The Prince Arthur, Fleet

Has got tatty & in need of another refurb- sign of its popularity more than anything. Next refurb really needs to lighten the place up - it's too dingy. Also suffers from the usual Fleet staffing shortage, although the team there really do a sterling job in what must be pretty difficult circumstances - 6 deep at the bar on a Friday night. Good rotating selection of ales, usually well kept.

Emporium, Fleet

This place has really become quite awful in the past year. Every pint I've ever had in the place has been off. Music far too loud. Too many bouncers - and they clamp you if you dare to use their car park. Avoid this abortion of a pub, then hopefully Greene King top brass will step in and sort it out.

Propaganda, Fleet

Now refurbished & called Propaganda. Seems pretty decent so far - music turned down to an acceptable level, tries to cater to a slightly older (25+) crowd, which I like. Owned by Greene King. Interesting & really varied food menu- haven't tried any food there myself though.

The Sports Bar, Fleet

Pretty decent place for a few drinks- its main attraction being it's round the back of the town centre, so a bit quieter for old gits like me. Now doing one or two real ales again, seems to be branching out into food more now- pizza, pasta etc. Shame they got rid of the table footy though.
