The Boathouse, Widbrook

This poor old pub. I get sad when I read comments about the Manager or Licensee not running after you 24 hours a day. Why do we expect the Landlord to be a slave . We do it and when he has a gut full, we say, managers come and next thing they go. They only go because they are not happy with the way they have been made fit it by the punter. No point him employing all the staff (for your benefit) if he still has to do the job himself. Next owner/manager, lets give some healthy support and see this place get going.

The Crown Inn, Knaphill

Wow, called in and what a change. Very nice interior, friendly owner who knows what hospitality is all about. Great food. A nice place to enjoy a pint, a coffee or a meal in comfort. No sky, no loud music, ideal for business meetings with WIFI available free. Not a DH in sight. Got to be 10/10 at the moment.

The Blue Boar, Southend on Sea

Well done the Blue Boar. I have seen the recent changes and I had a very pleasant night last week. A place to sit and read one of the many and varied books provided on the bookshelves. Beer was in perfect condition, a place to take your girlfriend for a relaxed glass of wine in a yet vibrant environment. It was so good to see something going on in each corner. Pool, music, games machines and tv. No food was on offer although I'm told that may soon change. The place felt as it did 20 years ago. Damn good place to kill some time.

The Rising Sun, Berkhamsted

Having not been here for some time I decided to drop in whilst visiting friends in the area over Christmas. What a pleasant surprise. The staff were great and the pub had a whole new feel. I notice the bar has been extended to a snug area. The beer was great, no food yet but I was told it will be soon. Nice garden which I think will get a lot of use in summer. Fantastic location to relax. The privately owned pubs are still the best. This is just how I remember pubs to be.
