The White Horse, Hascombe

Have to say, I was looking forward to going there today after a few years of non attendance. I knew the minute I walked in I would not be staying. Having booked a table for lunch, we were positioned by the kitchen in a place which was at best a third full inside. A pint of Otter, Star and a glass of white wine took an age to be poured. The lady behind the bar (who was not serving me) was walking around, confused and ignoring waiting customers, the man serving me was all over the place as well. After waiting an age I had to call a waiter over and ask if we could order and he said 'no, can you order at the bar (which would be fine, if they hadn't said we will be over to take your order) we are a bit overwhelmed today'. Needless to say we finished out drinks and did the off. I said after it was like a TV show where someone gets told they have to run a pub with no experience and make a success of it. Dismal from start to finish. You're fired.

Inside 72, East Dulwich

one the best places to go drinking round ED. Always a good atmsophere, good music on the whole and Lowenbrau on draught. Awesome.

The Uplands Bar and Brasserie, East Dulwich

truly awful.

The Crystal Palace Tavern, East Dulwich

Great pub, fast becoming my favourite in East Dulwich. The lounge bar is great and has real old fashioned feel about it. Staff are nice and friendly and also good for sport without getting packed out like the EDT.

The Cock and Woolpack, City Of London

Not a bad place, average beer, below average food. The air con was broken all summer - not a pub to write home about.

Flares, Guildford

Awful, attracts the worst kind of Guildford drinker...plus pulls in some of the woking crowd.

The Lord Nelson, Ipswich

Best pub in Ipswich I would say. Real feel of a good old fashioned pub. Adnams is well kept and stocked in casks behind the bar and managed excellently by Landlord Don. I go every week before football where food service is quick, good and very reasonable.

The Southwark Tavern, London Bridge

Good pub for afterwork beers, can get a bit too crowded on occassions. Great selection of Lagers and the food looks quite good as well. very different since the refurb and attracts a young crowd most evenings - good pub.

The Old Thameside Inn, London Bridge

not great, always over crowded and very hard to get a space outside. Lager is ALWAYS flat as well.

The Astolat, Guildford

I have had some dire times in the Astolat and only attended as regually as I did as it was the nearest pub to my parents house.

The place is devoid of atmosphere, although the quiz did use to be quite amusing for Richard Spall (landlord) comedy question calling. The staff are quite rude and the food is poor. Good selectioon of Ales though and the Lager is cheap for guildford. Varying crowd from Grannies - students.

Be At One, Old Street

I have always quite enjoyed my visits to the Legion. The juke box is great, always manage to get a table and good selection of lagers. However, the staff are appalling, they mooch about either talking on their mobiles or to each other, trying to look cool. They are rude and perhaps think that aloofness in a service job is classy and cool - it is not. Whilst I will no doubt go back to Legion, I am sure I will have to contend with this again whilst waiting an age for a pint.

The Greenwich Union, Greenwich

qulaity place, always busy and lively. Give the 'Union' beer a try, very tasty.

The Swan, Bank

Great boozer with excellent Landlord and staff (he lets me have a tab). Sandwiches are very good and always prompt no matter how full the pub gets. Bitter is kept excellently, especially the Chiswick. Good choice of lager's, Carlsberg, Stella, Carling - always cold and fizzy. It has a tidy little narrow bar downstairs with an option to drink outside. Upsatirs bar is a good old fashioned City pub, of which too many have disappeared over the last 5 years or so. Top marks to the truimphant Swan.

The Ship and Whale, Rotherhithe

Ship and Whale has an excellent food menu, if it a bit on the expensive side. Staff our friendly and chatty. Only downer is the red wine is bizarrely kept in the fridge and the white is always a bit on the warm side and they could do with a different selection of lager, they currently have oranjeboom and Holsten. On the whole a decent pub to spend a week night or weekend night in.
