Pippins, Carlisle

pippins perch was removed a while ago. it now qualifies for the "monty python this pub wouldn't voom if you put 15,000 bleedin' volts through it" award

Chaplins, Carlisle

not bad pub considering it's down a lane away from the "in" area. good painting of the pub hangs behind the bar. "nibs" Ross done that. not much of a selling point though.

The Border Rambler, Carlisle

good pub, used to be called the albion. was likened to an 18th century gin house but it wasn't that good. the rambler now, however, is a very popular pub and well frequented on weekends. be prepared to wait a while to be served. always the sign of a good pub

The Cumberland Inn, Carlisle

the last of the old as far as city centre goes. situated in the re-juvinated area of the city it stands out because of it's original character rather than in spite of it. always on the list during a pub crawl. good clientel although you may come across eastern europeans as much as eastern carlisle. changing times for a little changed pub.

The Howard Arms, Carlisle

good "local", city centre pub. good mix of human life with the odd commie thrown in. place to go if you want to meet tony brown, mayor in waiting.

Cranemakers, Carlisle

good pub. plenty football support. many screens for smallish place. lots of contractors too, since floods '05.
