The Bull, Horton Kirby

Nice atmosphere and, friendly staff, good selection of ales with guest ales a plenty. The food compliments this excellent pub well. Easily the best pub in the area and worth going out your way for.

The Arun View Inn, Littlehampton

Well worth a visit for either a quick drink or a meal in the excellent and very spacious dining area, adorned with nautical memorabilia. The pub offers good views of the river Arun. Always a nice atmosphere. The rooms upstairs although are not en-suite are clean and roomy.

The Craignure Inn, Craignure

A pleasing welcome, interesting weaponry hangs around the stone walls lending the feel of a castle-like ambience. Staff are friendly, tho bar is a little small. 20 people pack out this small pub but the outdoor seating areas seats plenty and gives rise to a pleasent view of the sound. Very defintely worth a beer, even tho a little remote.

The Mishnish Hotel, Tobermory

Make no mistake, this is a sound pub. Good points, The atmosphere is welcoming, with plenty of trinkets adorning the walls. Spread of ales is good, with particular notworthy mention of their own brew MishNish. Not so good points, the landlord strikes me as an ego on legs who runs the Mish like a boot camp. He is lucky to have his daughter run things bar side, especially as he sits the punters side of the bar not helping his dare-i-say-it underpaid and overworked polish barmaids.

All in all a worthwhile visit if you are in the neck of the woods. I would of rated it as a 10 but the gov'nor's antics had me knock it back to a 9.

The Five Pointed Star, West Malling

This ambience of this beautifully old pub with very low beamed ceilings and real log fires is magical. Serves the usual drinks with a good spread of various taps. It is blessed with staff that are knowledgeable and friendly. The punter is also spoilt with a vast menu with daily specials. Seriously top notch grub for sensible pub prices. Are there any downsides to this pub I hear you cry? - to be honest, it's hard to fault, but can get busy especially on Sundays and when the farmers market is in town, but rest assured, this pub is up there with the very best.

The Fox And Hounds, Lane End

Traditional looking country pub offering usual array of beers with occasional guest ale. Did suffer years ago with the pikeys that harranged these parts, but upon visiting more recently saw no evidence of any gipo.

Albany Hotel, Albany Park

tucked away in a bunglelow infested suburb. big spacious pub with plenty of room. Usual selection of beers, nothing much to really write home about, but it does have a reasonable landlord who runs a tight ship. the back room is a good size and has its own bar area. a good 6.

The Nevill Crest and Gun, Eridge Green

This pub always used to do decent enough food, in fact it was mainly a Sunday family out for lunch sort of place, but the bar area is very small and it takes an age to get served.

The Green Man, Ringmer

Pleasent enough pub with a great beer garden serving the usual pub fare.

The Plough and Harrow, Eynsford

Very nice pub. Always a favourite of mine. The decor is adorned with farm machinery, pitch forks and the like, upstairs is a restaurant with slightly hyped up prices but well worth it.

The Earl Haig, Bexleyheath

Had a refurb about 10 years ago. To be honest its gone a bit upmarket but has oddly kept character. Good selection of drinks, the food is good and the general trade is mixed and often see families eating there which is healthy. Oh and its mainly chav free which is always a bonus these days.

The Talbot, Knightwick

If you are into fishing and love a drink, this could be the perfect place to stay, eat and fish. The pub owns a stretch of the local river, which is reknowned for its barbel. The pub itself has good clean rooms above the room bar area. The food is just perfect and the atmosphere is always warming. The staff are worthy of a pat on the back also.

The Rose and Crown, Southwark

The outstanding feature of this pub is the food. It has a genuine thai chap doing all the catering and its simply mouthwatering. The staff are friendly with the landlord up for a bit of banter especially when Chelsea are on the big screen. Nice pool room too. Good honest pub.

The Lord Clyde, Borough

Lovely familiy run pub and have used it over the past 20 years. Mike the landlord has prided himself of giving what the punters want. A no-nonsense but friendly establishment serving a good array of beers. The back room is the perfect size for a private party and the famous 'hatch' is the perfect loophole for a quick pint. Try it, you will be surprised, thou I would say, be careful leaving a car in the vicinity as its locale is slighty off the beaten path, within the shadow of a some shady looking tenements.

The Hope Inn, Newhaven

The minute you walk into this pub, you are made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. The pub has a real fire and lots of nooks and crannys to sneak away to. The menu is varied and food of a good quality, with the good location by the marina its an all round top pub.

The Old Crown, Edenbridge

Local historians will tell of when King Henry VIII drank here on his way through many moons ago. For that I think the oak beams and old and rustic fireplaces and fittings are, erm very old. Does good range of food and the barmaids are friendly. I think the best in Edenbridge for sure.

The Danson Stables, Danson Park

This seems more of a restaurant than a pub. I would say that from what I could tell, theres no bar as such for the standing drinkers amongst us, just loadsa tables. I've eaten there and always found it good value and tasty enough. But the best bit for me is its location in Danson Park. A restaurant pub with never a hint of grief.

The Travellers Home, Bexleyheath

Nice pub. Has recently had the dreaded re-furb, but to be fair its still retained its character.

The Charles Dickens, Southwark

nice pub. Does good food and reasonable range of beers.

Ye Olde Black Horse, Sidcup

This pub has potential to be a great pub. But I sadly stopped going there as it always seemed, the landlord spent more time our side of the bar drinking than serving the punters. Has car park on site, reasonable beer garden and thick beams lending itself to that old feel to it inside. I'm hoping for new management to restore some magic to this landmark boozer.
