The Old Vic, Preston

Good beers, decent food, sports on screen, pool table. If the inside was to be done & made a bit nicer up it'd be spot on.

Time Square, Preston

If you like madchester you'll like it, if you like anything else you probably won't.

Used to love this bar back in 2000/01 but certainly not to my liking now.

Bar Censsa, Preston

Nice place. Busy but not as heaving as some of the others. Nothing special drinks-wise but a nice comfy bar with a good weekend atmosphere.

Squares / Wall Street, Preston

Very popular with the younger crowd. Not bad to drop into on a crawl but best avoided fri/sat evenings.

On the 'sophisticated' debate I can only comment that if you find stripey jumpers and check shirts sophisticated then you won't find anywhere more sophisticated than here on a fri/sat night!

Yates's, Preston

Resembles a school canteen which will be familiar surroundings for most of the people in there at weekends.

The Hush Lounge, Preston

Brilliant bar. Huge variety of bottled european beers & always a good selection on draught normally including a kriek (fruity beer), a weissbier (wheat beer) and a quality european lager such as Budweiser Budvar.

Also possibly the cosiest, friendliest place in Preston. Any place that has such a good choice of beers is always worth a visit.

If only other places were run so well.

I've never seen these supposed slutty dancers there either (been about 100 times) - if you want slutty dancers go to a chav bar that sells Stella & you'll see plenty of them on the dancefloor. Yates's and Squares being the nearest.

The Sun Hotel, Preston

I love going to this place when footy is on tv. Always got 2 different game son for champs league and you get to watch a live saturday game on the screen with Sky Sports news on the other screen.

Also great beer, a friendly welcome and a good pool table that's reasonably priced. Fantastic place for an afternoon pint or two

The New Britannia, Preston

You can tell they take good care of their ales in here. Really good old-fashioned pub. Won't be popular with people who are into flashy chain bars but that's part of the appeal. A real bloke pub

The Plungington, Fulwood

Gotta say I don't like the place. I've been a few times but tend to find it very unwelcoming.

Bog-standard beers in a bog-standard pub really.
