Horwichallstars, I'm very suprised you haven't yet had a threatning and abusive Pm of Twiga, I've had one for my comments. I totally agree with you, this person is not doing the pub any favours and if they are indicative of the kind of people who frequent this place then its best avoided.
We can enjoy a civilised pint in the Bowler (which has really risen from the ashes since the new landlady took over) or Longpull and leave them to sit in their dead pub reflecting on what could have been or (more likely)planning their next career.............

A very slight improvement on the beer but the atmosphere and staff lead a lot to be desired.
Last night a loud, foul mouthed cockney member of staff was staggering all over the pub in a drunken stupor. Imagine my suprise when I discovered she was on duty, working!! Mind you the landlady was in a even worse condidtion so she went unnoticed.
The climax of the evening was overhearing said member of staff telling a customer she didn't want to go out with him, just have fun with him when ever she fancied a bit!!
Pure class and a credit to the pub.

I've been pretty unkind about this pub in the past but credit where its due the new management seem to be sorting this place out.
Excellent Banktop bitter at 1.50 a pint and the sort of no nonsence approach to gobshites not seen in Horwich since Daphnie was landlady of the now dreadfull Tollbar.
If they carry on in the same vein then I wish them all the best, they deserve to succeed.

Another pub were pig-ignorant regulars won't move from the bar to allow you to get served.
Once you are there you will wonder why you bothered as the equally pig-ignorant staff will ignore you.

As any local will tell you, if Joans cooking can't save this place nothing can

If I were to write a review of my own pub then it would look like the last two postings

Present tenants seem to be making an effort to rid the place of kids, wether it works or not remains to be seen but one thing is for sure, its destoyed the Bowling green pub as they have just moved on

Chavtastic!!!!!!
Now known localy as the new Albert, Saturday evening the pavement outside this pub was littered with broken glass and drunken teenagers. A note to the tenants, its your outside smoking area and your responsibility!!!!
There's going to be the mother of all fights here soon, avoid this pub at all costs.
The present licencese's are due to leave soon and it shows, they just don't care anymore.

It may be busy on a Saturday eve but just watch the tumbleweed blow through the rest of the week. There could not have been more than a dozen people in at 11pm last night!!

Full of has-beens and yesteryears heros.

The most irritating pub in the town. Its a good little pub, the beer is always bang on (when they have it, the staff are friendly and serive is normally quick. A pity its shut so much, the landlord and landlady can do it and do it well, why they often choose not to is a mystery.

I have to agree with the negitive comments about this place but I fear they won't stay on here long. The landlady genuinely belives she runs the best pub in Horwich and reports comments for removal rather than take an objective view of them and see how she can improve things.
Due to Davids love of Man U and inviting away fans in after a match this pub has probally had more Police vists and replacement windows than any other pub in the town, he's certainly had more black eyes than any other landlord I can recall!!
What do they expect in an area were BWFC are based?

Much better in here now the smog has gone. The staff are spot on, I saw one not only ask a young lad for ID but hold it under the light to check it was genuine. A pity other pubs ih the town aren't as vigilant

The beer may be good but the place is filthy, you would not want to sit on any of those seats with clean clothes on.

I've never really seen the appeal of this pub, its smokey, dingy and expensive for beer that can be quite variable, the Holts bitter is not a patch on the Crown and thats not one of my favorite pubs either. Service is normaly good if the landlady is about, she's pretty keen on and keep an eye on her staff.

A proper boozer thats featured in the real ale guide 2007 and quite rightly so. 1.85 for a pint of excellent JW Lees and its the only pub I've seen in the area that clears the beer lines every night. Sure there is a high turnover of staff, maybe its because they don't meet the managements high standards?

Landlady seems to be sticking to her no cask during the week "punishment" which explains why the pub is empty four nights a week. Well thats certainly shown them........

Going down hill at an alarming speed. Food no longer served, front door shut early when the bands aren't on and you'd think the beer would be cheap as well as nasty

Cask beer now only served at weekends, perhaps someone could explain the term "service provider" to the owners.

Re-filling used glasses seems to have become a common practise in this pub recently, not only is it un-hygenic but also illegal.
