The Holly Bush, Shortfield

Came here for the first time on a Sunday after a good walk around the ponds. There was a quiet but very pleasent atmosphere in the place. Beer very good (I had perfect pints of Green King IPA and Tolly English Ale) and excellent and generously portioned roast lunch. Terrific friendly service. Will go again.

White Hart, Overton

Unfortunately this pub is closed. The building is still occupied. Don't know what the plans are but let's hope it opens again.

The Fox, North Waltham

We are quite local and visit quite regularly (though I would not say it is "our local"). The beer is always fantastic, with new ales regularly appearing. The food is very very good indeed. The bar area is small-ish but cosy, but the beer garden is large and beautiful with no traffic noise and perfect for sitting out in the summer. I could not wish for more from a pub - 10/10.

The Old Hatchet, Winkfield Row

Three of us visited for drinks and a meal Sept 2010. Friendly and attentive staff and very well kept Fullers beers. My pint of London Pride and Seafarers were very good. There is a good selection of wine for those who like it.

My calamari starter was good. However my Toad-in-the-Hole was very poor. The staff know it was bad, so there was no fuss when I did not pay for it. The pasta and pork ordered by my two friends were alright.

We used to live in the area and visited many times for food and beer and the food always really excellent. However the food now seems rather variable in quality. I think this pub has changed hands in the last year or so.

I give the Hatchet 8/10 for beer (only free houses pubs with a lot of guest beers will get higher from me!) and 3/10 for food.
