The White Horse, Parsons Green

It's a shame that this pub is frequented by well healed CHAVS. I was in there the other Saturday and every time I went to the toilet, there was a line (excuse pun) of idiots openly taking cocaine. This is not the first time that I've encountered such unpleasantness. It seems odd that the management are unaware of this - it's fairly in-your-face and is ruining an otherwise good pub. That said, steak pie was excellent.

The Peacock, Tower Hill

Beer badly kept and customers of the City Boy ilk. Not pleasant, not clever.

The Charles Lamb, Angel, Islington

The landlord here is really tring to provide some of the best beers around. Unfortunately the beer is not always at its best due to lack of tunover. I've often been the only person in here drinking beer whilst the locals are strickly lager/wine/pimms. That said, it's a pleasant enough place and should be supported by any discerning ale drinker.

The Flower Pot, Walthamstow

Beer not well kept and children running amok.

11 Feb 2011 15:15

The Lion And Lobster, Brighton

Hophead was poor - probably turned sour by the man hating dykes who populated the pub on my visit.

11 Feb 2011 14:48

The Evening Star, Brighton

Good pub with well kept Dark Star beers. Hophead was as good as you get in London.

The Rose and Crown, Walthamstow

Trouble with this place is they keep the beer too cold, killing the taste of the ale. They could also do with having a decent regular beer rather than the insipid Adnams. That said, at least they are trying to provide a reasonable, if expensive place to drink in E17 so good luck to them.

The Charlton Arms, Ludlow

Best beer in Ludlow - had several pints of Hobson's bitter which was on top form. Friendly laid back staff and good food.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

Beer here was not on good form - possibly due to too many handpumps and not enough beer drinkers. Started on Three Tuns bitter which tasted alright but was a little hazy. Bar staff weren't too friendly and seemed more interested in reading the paper than serving anyone.

The Harp, Covent Garden

Chav_Man (11 Dec Comment) clearely has mental health problems (he seems obsessed by feaces) - check out his previous entries.

One O Eight, Whitburn

Toilet

The Jolly Angler, Manchester

Cracker - been drinking here for 30 years - puts to shame the rest of the crap trendy Manc pubs.

The Railway Arms, Alton

criminal that the brewery tap for FFF doesn't give a FFF when it comes to looking after it's ale.

9 Oct 2009 15:29

The Railway Tavern, Aldershot

Why do (pubs) like this exist? No real ale no point.

9 Oct 2009 15:25

The Harp, Covent Garden

A gem - beer as good as it gets.

9 Oct 2009 14:12

The Full Moon, Dudley

Typically souless Weatherspoon's pub. Tried a couple of ales, which were to be fair reasonably priced but unfortunately poorly kept.

7 Oct 2009 16:54

The Farriers Arms, St Albans

Excellent basic boozer - how a pub should be. Beer well kept. Landlord miserable but friendly and happy to talk beer with strangers despite being seriously bushwhacked (me not him).

The Morris Dancer, Kelsall

Like many pubs around these parts - useed to be excellent. Now a stale restopub catering for families and not beer drinkers

6 Oct 2009 14:04

The Lamp Tavern, Dudley

Unbelievably this pub is not in the 2010 Good Beer Guide - the only entry for Dudley is the Full Moon (a Weatherspoon's toilet). Proof if it were needed that CAMRA know sod all about decent ale. The Batham's Bitter sold here is as good a pint as you'll get.

A La Mort Subite, Brussels

A must when in Brussels and a good introduction to the joys of Lambic - Yes it is filtered and sweetened but still a decent drink. If you want the real stuff you'll need to venture into the Payottenland or nip down to the Cantillon brewery in Anderlecht

8 Sep 2009 15:14

The Victoria, Victoria

Exensive beer, poor quality

22 Jul 2009 14:20

The Brandy Cask, Pershore

Excellent ale house with superb home brewed beers. Landlord is friendly and accommodating - I was a little worse for wear due to excessive cider activity at the nearby Monkey House but he took it all in his stride. Quality food and one of the best beer gardens around.

3 Jul 2009 15:33

Defford Arms, Defford

Friendy Barman - gave us samples of 3 different casks on offer. Pub fairly non-descript but handy for the mighty Monkey House

The Anchor Inn, Wyre Piddle

Very poor - the beer was sour - I had the nerve to request a change of pint that was very reluctantly granted (the landlady was more intersted in chatting to her mate on her mobile phone). The replacement was also poor, stale and too warm for a living product such as ale.
They make a big deal about "traditional pub food" this amounts to microwaved pre-packed cottage pie and the like (at the traditional price of a tenner). The owners obviously see this as a money spinning operation and have no feel for what a good pub comprises of. With a location like this there is really no excuse not to get it right. Why do we put up with this?

Waxy O'Connor's, Glasgow

Oirish Toilet

19 Jun 2009 15:02

The Griffin Bar, Glasgow

Pub average but the pint of Deuchars was on excellent form the other night

31 Mar 2009 15:38

The Dove Inn, Hammersmith

The pub is quite attractive but the beer/food overpriced and not of a good standard. Worse still, the locals tend to be odious chinless wonders typical of the area.

31 Mar 2009 10:35

The Seven Stars, Chancery Lane

The fat landlady sees herself as a bit of a character but is in fact bad news, especially when the weather gets hot.

Beer very poorly kept but what do you expect for 3.30 a pint.

26 Feb 2009 14:36

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

Landlady might not be rude but the landlord certainly is. Beer okay.

24 Feb 2009 15:42

The Flask, Highgate

Overpriced and beer was poorly kept.

28 Nov 2008 10:01

The Havelock Tavern, Kensington

Friendly pub with good beer/food. A bit expensive but that's the area.

7 Oct 2008 16:56

The Bell, Walthamstow

This used to be half decent when I first moved to E17 (admitedly 20 years ago) Nowadays it's just plain nasty.

30 Sep 2008 13:53

The Albion Inn, Chester

Twee pub with unpleasantly right wing landlord

19 Aug 2008 14:36

Fox and Grapes, Pensnett

Fantastic pint of Bathams - as good as the Lamp in Dudley. Classic bar and great atmosphere.

19 Aug 2008 14:30

The Bree Louise, Euston

Fantastic beer, great food, friendly bar staff. Top Notch.

4 Jul 2008 15:14

peartree inn, hook norton

Requires new ownership. Rude and unfriendly owners with major hygene issues. Remarkably crap beer considering proximity to brewery.

30 May 2008 15:32

The Pear Tree Inn, Hook Norton

After a long walk we arrived at the Pear Tree at 1:30 knowing that they served lunch till 2:00. I asked at the bar for a menu to be told that they were not taking any more orders as they were "too busy". That despite the fact that we were unfortunate enough to be staying their that night. No wonder people holiday abroad if you are faced with this miserable approach to cutomer care in this country. We returned several hours later to be shown to our room - a pokey and unclean affair that smelt of dog's urine - there were dog hairs everywhere. I'd put up with this if they at least sold a good pint. They don't. God knows how diffifult it is with the brewery just around the corner. The breakfast the following morning was disgusting, and I mean disgusting, complete with smelly dog jumping up at the table. All in all bloody awful.

30 May 2008 15:29

The Lord Palmerston, Walthamstow

This place has completely turned around in the last year. Was a dive, now vibrant and friendly. The best news is that they finally have real ale (Youngs and Fullers). Easily the best pub in E17.
