The Blacksmiths Arms, St Albans

On a point of detail, the staff check the pub's toilets on the hour, every hour. Do other pubs check theirs once a week?! The new people at this place are working very hard and it has improved almost beyond recognition.

The Boot, St Albans

The Boot has been cleaned up, for which many thanks. Nothing vulgar, just a lick of paint and cleaner toilets. Good!

The Six Bells, St Albans

A smashing pub.

The Garibaldi, St Albans

I'm going to change my name to ExitBlueblottle. At least, that's what I did last week in this pub: walked in, walked out again. All the comments below are spot on. What is happening here is a tragedy. The Garibaldi has operated since the 19th century, and suddenly Fullers seem intent on wrecking it. They must be crazy.
On a kinder note, I trust that the delightful Katie will be OK; I've already seen her in another pub (not a great one, to be sure) and she fully deserves to find a fresh start away from the rathole that the Garibaldi has become. So does the other nice lady who works here in the afternoons.
But back to ranting .... Can we apply any pressure on Fullers? Could Punch Taverns buy the pub and staff it with one of the good managers that are in this part of town?

The Boot, St Albans

People who complain about the Boot are the type who had to wear short trousers right up their last day at school. This is a real pub, with real people, on both sides of the bar. Always worth a visit!

The Verulam Arms, St Albans

There's an interesting novelty here: tea and scones! Not much use for Bluebottle, since I take Mum's sandwiches to eat, but I thought I'd mention this added attraction.
For all you grown-ups, the quality of the beer in this pub remains excellent.
Exit Bluebottle, replete.

Bar 62, St Albans

Much better than before. Friendly service and a good atmosphere.

The Slug and Lettuce, St Albans

Service OK, food OK, good selection of wines and lagers but no beer. What you'd expect, really. It's not bad, but I agree with the "souless" comment.
Exit Bluebottle, in the direction of the Peahen.

The Railway Bell, Brighton

Sounds like another average night in the Railway Bell. Or maybe not.
3 comments in 9 minutes??? No way Jose. I support P&F Butcher.

The White Swan, St Albans

Rather a good pub, actually. I had a hearty lunch here, and 2 pints of extremely good beer. Also the jukebox deserves a mention: it's not of those dreadful modern things containing 3 million tracks which no one's ever heard of, but has a very good selection of top tunes from the past 30 years or so. Exit Bluebottle, singing.

The White Hart Tap, St Albans

This pub needs a good shake-up. The service was friendly enough and the beers OK, but the atmosphere was complacent and unwelcoming. Quite a bit of grime around too.

The Boot, St Albans

Good selection of ales, always well kept. Quite a jolly crowd of folks and a friendly atmosphere. Exit Bluebottle, inebriated.
