The Park Tavern, Eltham

Had a low expectation when last visited due to the area and lack of options but was pleasantly surprised - well stocked range and attentive bar staff, will certainly not be the last time we go there for a few jars

Beehive, New Eltham

Have to agree with the previous post - went in here a little while back and there seemed to be any reedeming features and was taken aback by the price of a pint, not far of £4! Staff seemed uninterested, wont be back

The Maxwell Hotel, Orpington

Friend and I came in here randomly one Saturday afternoon and cant say we were overly impressed - took take an age to get served and place just seemed in need of a dettol bath. Good points are the bus stop outside and train station just up the road to make a swift exit

The Griffin, Whetstone

Still pop in here when I'm in the area - lovely pub, atmosphere is great and additonal seating outside is perfect on a hot day. Noticded the prices creep up over the years, but still the best pub in the area

The Fox, Keston

Very nice pub and good food - does tend to get very busy and quite often functions being held (private parties etc.) but would recommend

The Compass, Bromley

Ok pub if you are starting a night out. Imagine the same old faces prop up the bar day in day out - found the selection of beer to be ok and staff seemed friendly enough, just the atmosphere felt a little flat

The Swan and Mitre, Bromley

Agree with previous comment about The Swan needing a good clean as it is a little grimy but would say that when I have been in here recently the beer has been fine and the food not bad at all - found the staff to be attentive as well. A little bit of love is needed

Henry's Cafe Bar, Bromley

Made the mistake of popping in here one Saturday evening with a mate looking to round of the night. Prices reflect those charged in Central London and the patrons look as though they have been rejected by The Only Way is Essex. Would not return, perhaps I'm just getting old!

The Beech Tree, Bromley

I'm reading the below and to be entirely honest, have found the comments a little harsh - the pub is now The Hop and Rye and have popped in quite a few times for a couple of beers in the last year or so. Found the selection to be good and reasonably priced - havent eaten there so cannot comment. Staff seemed friendly and a lot of locals milling about

Popped in with a friend one Saturday evening as well and had a good laugh, maybe the criticism needs to be reviewed

The Greyhound, Bromley

What you would expect from a Spoons pub! Always seems to be busy and do feel some empathy for the staff behind the bar who seem constantly run off their feet - good selection of beers and ales and decent enough food but to be honest, this is the reason people go to Wetherspoons pubs. Atmosphere good, lots of families, prams and old boys supping their ale

O'Neills, Bromley

Have slightly mixed feelings on O'Neils - it can look very lonely sometimes and feel a little sterile due to its size, but the beer and ale available is always of good quality and on many occasions I have had their sizzling breakfast which is very tasty and reasonably priced. Other times I have eaten there I have found the food to be good as well. Bar staff friendly, no doubt I will return

The Shortlands Tavern, Shortlands

As per previous comment, a real community pub that has thankfully not had its soul ripped out by a chain trying to buy them out yet! Really nice atmosphere and when myself and the OH went there, we enjoyed the drinks and friendly approach from the staff. A genuine little boozer that I will continue to frequent

The Partridge, Bromley

Having not used this site for a few years, thought it was high time I started adding some reviews after moving to Bromley a little while back. The Partridge is now my local and I always try and pop in there at least once a week. The atmosphere is very good, the bar staff friendly and attentive and being a Fullers pub there is also a decent selection of beers. Food also good. Would recommend, probably the best pub in Bromley

The Jolly Farmers (ex jordan), Lewisham

Came in here recently (been to the previous incarnations ) and was impressed by the atmosphere - a lovely pub which I can see myself visiting very often.

The Hare and Billet, Blackheath

I really, really like this pub - it's managed to stand firm and not become something that it isn't (O'Neils take note). Good lager and one of those pubs that is absolutley perfect for a Saturday afternoon. Or any day for that fact.

O'Neills, Blackheath

Ay pub where you have to queue to get in has already made a poor start in my book. The fact that is can take anywhere up to 20 minutes to get served at the bar only adds to my growing sense of frustration - last time I was there, some bloke kept offering me aftershave in the toilet!!! I thought I had mistakenly entered a club - the fact that this annoying trend has entered a pub only reinforces my belief that this establishment has lost it's identity.

The Huntsman, Eridge Green

Went here a year or so ago - my abiding memory is of a friendly pub where the beer and food was good. Makes a nice change from some of the pubs in London. Would like a similar place close to me, but I imagine a chain would buy it then revamp it into one of the many theme bars, thus losing it's appeal to an out-of-towner like myself!

Boadicea, Charing Cross Station

Why?!? As a couple of posts have stated, with a vast selection of pubs within close proximity, why would anyone in their right mind drink in this place?!? Even if you are waiting for a train, I'd suggest venturing outside the station......I decided it would be the ideal meeting place recently and regretted my decision immediately. Lack of atmosphere? Check. Limited selection of alcoholic beverages? Check. Still overpriced? Absolutley. The pub also seems to be on the same route as the dribble bus, because the majority of patrons seemed to be struggling with simple tasks such as speaking. Please don't go here, you'll just encourage the place to stay open longer.

The Amersham Arms, New Cross

I really like this place - more positives than negatives. Good music, decent (if basic) selection of drinks, good bar staff.

The New Cross Inn / Bar Alchemy, New Cross

Times were I would enter here and think "Blimey, this is a bit rough" (the blood on the ceiling was off-putting). Nowadays, the boot is firmly on the other foot as I found out much to my suprise some weeks ago - it's turned into a trendy wine bar, and the bouncers seemed rather pleasant! In my dismay, and bacuase of the lack of violence bubbling under the surface, I had to leave.......

15 Dec 2007 15:19

One, Lewisham

Why? It doesn't fit the Lewisham perception - I prefered it when it was the White Horse......it's now a poncey ared placed filled with plastic middle class drones who suddenly think that you only need to drink in a pretend wine bar and you are no longer seen as the low rung of soceity. This is Lewisham, not f**king Notting Hill.

15 Dec 2007 15:11

Yates's, Lewisham

Are you a wannabe gangster? Do you feel the need to strut you hip hop walk (the one where you look as though you've sprained your ankle) within the confines of a pub? Well, look no further friend, you have arrived at your destination - on the occasions I have been in the giant hellhole of a public house, I have wondered if I had mistakely walked into a steortyped "rap" video. The steady decline of our society is reflected extremly well here by the the scores of young men willing to shake of the mocking that is normally aimed in their direction, and wear their jeans under their arses and bounce around in what can only be described as a Rudeboy demeanor. The fact that the largest police station in Europe was built next door doesn't strike me as coincidental....

15 Dec 2007 15:04

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

I liked this pub - it can get packed on the weekend, but the amount of lager / beers on offer, you can't really go wrong. My only gripe is sometimes it takes a while to get served, but being in Covent Garden you expect that I suppose. Agree with another poster about the decor - slightly baffling, but after a few sharp ones, who really gives a toss?

The Cutty Sark Tavern, Greenwich

Really nice pub, very good atmosphere. If you fancy a quiet one, then this is your best bet in Greenwich. Nice place to kick off your night.

14 Nov 2006 17:48

The Ladywell Tavern, Ladywell

Been here on a few occasions and I must say, I really do like it in here. The atmosphere is good and the bar staff are always friendly. Defintley a "local" pub, but all the better for it in my opinion.

14 Nov 2006 17:46

The Fox and Firkin, Lewisham

Used to drink here many moons ago - recently been back and pleasantly suprised. The lager on tape while not overly adventerous, is pretty good. Also, 2 very friendly barmaids. Recomended.

14 Nov 2006 17:42

TP's, Bromley

Enjoy watching grown men prey on young girls? Then go here - a truly awful pub where the ability to have your head shoved up your own arse is a must. There isn't any stand out features, and if your in here after about 6pm you can sense the agression brewing (normally from the hormonal "men" with their "funky" hair). Police always on call and waiting outside - they've learnt from previous experience.

24 Sep 2006 10:13

The Griffin, Whetstone

Very nice pub and extremly welcoming - the bar staff are always friendly and the food always good. Just a very nice all round pub!!!

24 Sep 2006 10:05

The Morden Arms, Greenwich

Enjoy drinking with animals? Then pay a visit to this pub/vets surgeon. As much I as I admire the effort to make this place "quaint and cosy", it just seems too fail. The bar staff aren't that friendly and there always seems to be the same people propped up at the bar, never leaving or even talking. Dog's a pain as well - do you honestly want a flea ridden mutt slobbering over your feet whilst you enjoy a casual beer? And I'm certain that the flea's have spread to the seats..........advice? Stand.

23 Sep 2006 17:42

The Prince Albert, Greenwich

Has a certain charm about this place - personally, I enjoy starting here. Pool tables and good beer on draught. The only problem I fin is there does seem to be a spillover from the union, kids who look like rabbits in the headlights as they finally enter a "real" pub.

23 Sep 2006 17:37

The Greenwich Union, Greenwich

Nice enough place. The bers good but i cant help but wonder how many people actually know what their pretentious mate bantering about politics actually know about it??????

23 Sep 2006 17:35

The Mitre, Greenwich

Wrong side of 40? Enjoy a ruck? Then welcome to the place where your dreams will come true. Despite boasting Becks on tap, the redeeming features of this pub are fairly minimal and the "conservatory" looks like it was installed by our close friend Mr Bowen, he of the lairy suits and camp stride.

23 Sep 2006 17:34

Inc Bar, Greenwich

Do you see yourself as "trendy" "media" well this is the place for your enjoying a new fangled taste of magners "irish" cider. For the rest of the free thinking world then avoid this hole of a place. Designed by the stlye guru Llwellwn Bowen one wonders how he pays for those wild suits then wonder no more he touts his questionable skills and talent to gullible bar owners who should undoubtably know better.

23 Sep 2006 17:31

The Coach, Greenwich

Nice pub, good location. Not going to win any awards and I daren't say that people will spend the night there. Outside seating is a good idea, but you do have to suffer the constant stream of halfwits on their way to the Hardy.

23 Sep 2006 17:27

Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich

Nice building, ruined by the fact that the beer tastes like piss and the people who drink there are mid 30's who like to think of themselves as "cool" or "hip" whilst drinking a 4 bottle of wine. Do I like this place? What do you think?

23 Sep 2006 17:25

Bar du Musee, Greenwich

Cracking little place to finish off at. When your horny and pissed up check out the big girls on offer.

23 Sep 2006 17:07

The Gipsy Moth, Greenwich

Wouldn't go there if it was the last pub on earth - literally, even the br staff are up their own arse. Everything bad about drinking in Greenwich

1) Pretentious "trendy" half wits.
2) Bar staff who serve you with contempt.

Never go - in fact, don't even look.

23 Sep 2006 17:05

The Lost Hour, Greenwich

Good starting pub wouldnt want to stay there all night full of tasy studenty types (women).

23 Sep 2006 17:02

The Spanish Galleon, Greenwich

Top draw proper good pub - friendly bar staff. As always, the atmosphere is good and no trouble. Watch out for the truly surly landlord.

23 Sep 2006 16:59

Admiral Hardy, Greenwich

Full of too cool for christmas studenty types aviod or leave before a fight ensuees
