The Betsey Wynne, Swanbourne

Fantastic pub- very much old country pub feel from what is a new building.
Beer seems to be well kept, and they seem to have 2-3 ales on most of the time.

The Three Locks, Stoke Hammond

The staff here are an absolute credit to the pub. Having not visited for a few months, we visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon- it would appear that half of the local towns had the same idea!

Even though the staff were absolutely run ragged, they gave good service to us throughout. I also witnessed an incident where there had been an error on a food order and something had been missed off by the customer. The staff bent over backwards to get the problem resolved, including re-opening the kitchen to get the food out to the customer in question
.
Beer is well kept, and even though they dont have the biggest selection, they often have interesting and unusual beers on.

As a previous reviewer commented excitable teenage staff yes, the staff are young, but are ALL pleasant and give the place a nice energy. If only all pub staff were like this!!!

Lowndes Arms, Whaddon

Visited this pub last night for the first time for about 5 years.

First Impressions; Staff were scruffy and lacklustre. Whole place stank of cigarette smoke. Pool table (ex dining room) has been re-done and now does not seem in keeping with the rest of the pub, very bright, making the rest of the bar seem even more dingy and grubby.

Beer was mediocre at best, IPA just didnt quite taste right and larger wasnt cold. Didnt bother staying for a second pint. On the plus side, prices were ok for a village pub.

My suggestion- close for a week, totally redecorate and try again. Shame, as I can see this becoming another village pub closing before very soon.

The Nut and Squirrel, Westcroft

There is a good selection of real ales on that are kept well. usually 4-8 on pump.
Staff are so-so; depends on who you get; some seem more interested in their conversation than serving you others are very knowledgeable and are always happy to recommend one of the guest ales if you can't make your mind up.
Since the last re-fit, where they split the pub into a bar and "dining room" the drinking area is always quite crowded, which can make it quite noisy. Oh, and now they lets kids in, which is a shame...
