One of my favourite pubs ever.
I lived in cambridge for a few years and never went there, which seems amazing.
I discovered it a few years back one summer.
Since then, whenever i travel to cambridge, i try and pop in for an ale.
The food is really good and beer the garden great.
As i say one of my favourite pubs anywhere.

I have enjoyed this website and the comments that people write, whether its my opinion or not.
First off I have always found the bar staff pleasant and happy. There are a few good ales and the usual lagers.
During the day whenever i have popped in, its been a nice place to enjoy a pint.
However on the occassions that I have been there in the evenings, its becomes a magnet for some really socially challenged people, the sort of people you could imagine hanging out/friends with that blonde horse faced bird on the apprentice and the ex army guy who wanted to cook sausages with a baked bean tin. Peoples whose self importance is just something to behold.
In most places people move to let you past when you are trying to get through a gap, its just common sense and politeness, but most people here just dont want to move until they are actually asked.
What amused me yesterday was that i went out to make a call and there was this guy on the phone saying how rude the people were in the pub and that he couldnt wait to get away.
I think for me, its the fact i dont encounter such rude people in other places that i go. But also that peoples attitude is so pronounced here.
This is certainly not a rant against anyone who works in any profession, but just an observation of the rude way that an element at this pub behave on a regular basis.
The answer is to drink somewhere else in the evening which i do !

The Prince of Wales, Stow Maries
What a wonderful pub, good booze, nice beer garden, the menu looks great, last time i was in, there were a couple of desperate house wife barmaids, which was amusing.
Have had a few great evenings there.
