The Rocket , Putney

Nice evening with friends could have been spoiled by large, rowdy group of young fellas...shouting singing, about 15 of them. The manager dealt with them calmly and decisively. Whilst not angry or agressive he simply told them to leave. He did not waste time asking them to be quiet or behave. Just go. It was impressive and yet discrete at the same time. This experienced manager is why this Wetherspoons is so good.

The Rocket , Putney

This new manager is really doing well. The atmosphere is warm, busy and friendly. Beer range superb and in top condition. The Rocket gets better and better.

Fountain Inn, Mevagissey

Pleasant enough. Beer good. Slightly "stiff" sort of atmosphere... middle age couples earnestly having their fish & chips and one drink. Visited on a number of occasions...nothing wrong but just nothing special...not pubby enough maybe? It is in The Good Beer Guide 2013.

Harbour Tavern, Mevagissey

One of my favourite pubs when visiting Cornwall. Always made very welcome by staff and locals. Food great with a range of Skinners beer generally well kept. Whatever the weather the Harbour Bar makes you feel comfortable as you gaze out over the busy working harbour. Highly recommended.

The Kings Arms, Mevagissey

Hey..this is a proper pub. ..in a proper Cornish fishing village. A warm fire and a warm welcome. Good beer and friendly local banter in this excellent one bar pub. Great that it has been rescued and appears to have found a niche that does not rely on holidaymakers and food sales.

Ship Inn, Pentewan

THoroughly splendid pub in a lovely village. Kim and her staff always focus on looking after the customers and never seem distracted or inattentive. Bar regulars and local people have also always made us very welcome. The range of St Austell beer cannot be faulted and the food is hearty and fresh. We return here year after year and have never been disappointed.

The Rocket , Putney

What a difference a change at the top makes....new but very experienced young manager seems to have brought standards up. Staff attitude has considerably improved and a general air of vibrancy makes the pub feel very welcoming. Food waiting times have reduced, with beer....Doom Bar at 2 pint... well kept and knowledgably served by enthusiastic bar staff. This is a great pub in a unique location and would be just ideal for parties and other functions. Well done that team!

The Grid Inn, Southfields

Hard to work out Wetherspoon thinking. The Grid is at long last a really vibrant community. No rowdy or rough types...just genuine convivial regulars. Strangers are made to feel welcome by the young, enthusiastic manager and staff. Food the most reliable it has ever been. A proper and well run "local".... which Wetherspoons has rewarded with impending closure!

The Great Malvern Hotel, Great Malvern

Old fashioned delightful hotel. Previously frequented by theatrical types I believe. Would like to make fair assessment of the beer but after a very long drinking day fail to recall what I had. It seemed jolly good at the time. Music reverberated throughout the bar, not really noisy but considerable vibration bothered me not at all.

The Nags Head, Great Malvern

Lively, friendly, well run, busy pub. Superb range of beers. Bathams is my favourite but tried Otter too. Food good and more reasonably priced than the beer. Plenty of dogs but fewer children.

The Morgan, Malvern

Charming introduction to our first visit to Malvern. Lovely beer and garden. Friendly alert staff.

The Earl of Spencer, Southfields

Saturday evening before 10pm. No one at the bar. A few people seated finishing their meals. Two blokes behind the bar. Us middle age couple waited and waited and waited whilst the two blokes carefully ignored us. It felt deliberate? Won't be in a hurry to go back!

Weavers, Bodmin

Found the longed for Trelawney, good pint but not brilliant. Empty pub late lunch time. Girl behind the bar was very friendly to us travellers from South London.

Chapel an Gansblydhen, Bodmin

Downstairs well furnished but nothing special...but go upstairs and it is spectacular. Very good value beer, and a new Wednesday beer club. Shame it is so far from South London.

The Victoria Inn, Roche

Middle of the road St Austell pub...in the middle of nowhere. Travelodge attached describes it as Bodmin(Roche). Breakfast across the road at "TJ's" was better value than the pub. Evening meals were rather disappointing. Also disappointed that the new Trelawney was not on. Only Tribute - though very well kept and served - HSD came on too on our 2nd day. OK pub but nothing special.

The Edward Rayne, Raynes Park

No problem with service on this visit. Good range of beers. Regular Wetherspoons.

The Wibbas Down Inn, Wimbledon

Top notch JDW. Great range of beers in good condition. Sambrooks Pale was especially good. Strong management and eager staff make this one of the best Wetherspoons.

The Grid Inn, Southfields

Friendly drinkers in a routine JDW pub. Good range of beer and smiling staff. Judging by previous comments this is a massive improvement.

The Oyster Rooms, Fulham

Youngish, Spanish and welcoming traditional "mine host" make this a very good Wetherspoons venue. Great attention to beer condition and interest in real ales. As well as usual range of Wetherspoons beers - Sambrooks Junction and Westerhams Bulldog were also on offer. Usual food range. Toilets clean and tidy. Despite being in a shopping centre this pub has a traditional, friendly local atmosphere.
