The Black Bull Hotel, Coniston

nice pub. most of my experiences are good here but one time when it was pouring down with rain i decided to go in for a pint and the barman had a look of being more worried about me dripping on the floor than welcoming a customer.

The Yewdale Hotel, Coniston

a very nice pub. the staff are quite friendly. dont bother with the food though, its nothing special.

The Sun Hotel, Coniston

please note it was five or six years ago when i visited this pub.
i go to coniston every year but wont go to this pub again. the public bar is absolutely tiny. it was jam packed. i happened to notice a nice lounge area totally empty. i suspected it could be for hotel guests only so i asked. the barmaid said in a blunt manner it is for hotel guests only. so i had to squash up to this nice australian couple. they were nice but its ashame about the staff. so dont go there unless you want to know how a sardine in a tin feels.

The Royal Oak, Stockton on Tees

its expensive. how it keeps going at those prices i dont know. someone should tell the landlord that stockton isnt in surrey.

The Walkabout, Cardiff

this pub has an odd policy. it has two entrances. while out in cardiff for the first time we were going to go in this pub and saw one entrance were they were queueing while another had no queue. so we went for that one. the bouncer wouldnt let us in but was letting other people in. he told us to queue at the other entrance. so we told him were to get off and went somewhere else.

Traders, Stockton On Tees

this pub is the best chance of decent music in the high street. they play a good mix of the best of indie,80's,soul etc. however the music is a bit loud. i sometimes cant feel my ears when i have been there. the toilets are very dirty. when i flushed the toilet a strange smell appeared from somewhere. i guess from inside the toilet. this hasnt changed over time and i have been to this pub many times.
anyway it is worth going to for the music.

The Thomas Sheraton, Stockton On Tees

this is a nice pub. there is no music so if you want music then dont go to this pub. it has a great choice of beers. the worst thing about this pub is getting served. the bar staff are really slow and dont seem to try and serve people in order. they have got over zealous with asking people for id recently. my mates girlfriend got asked for id and she is 24. the toilets are pretty clean for a town centre pub.

Bambooza, Stockton On Tees

this is one of the better places to go in the high street. that doesnt mean it is that great though. the main issue with the music is it is the same tracks every night. the toilets are a bit manky. there are some goodlooking bar maids in this pub, check out the barmaid in black. they sometimes have good drink offers on after 11pm.

Goldies Bar, Stockton On Tees

this pub is the best in stockton for atmosphere. the music isnt to my taste but i can live with it. anyway with the odd exception none of the other pubs in the high street are any better music wise. the bar staff are good in the sense that they seem to try and serve people in order. the issue that was previously mentioned about bouncers letting people jump the queue still happens sometimes. i am curious why we now see the male staff stripping while the female staff are more covered up than a granny in winter. i saw a feature on local news not too long ago about a bar in newcastle. they also have the staff dancing on the bar. the difference is they were wearing bikinis and not dark bagging clothes. saturday is the best with more of a mix of age groups. friday tends to have mainly older people in there. it is the best pub in stockton but it can be improved and it doesnt have much competition.
