The Match Maker, Bow

what a hole. you can never need a drink so badly as to have to go here. down and outs inside, drug dealers outside. gave a cig to a woman once who then skinned up in the beer garden while her young daughter climbed a barbed wire fence. avoid

The Bell House, Camden

great place this. used to work in the hospital down the road so would pop in almost everyday. they know how to look after their ale and regularly have new ones on. good sized beer garden out the back, right on the canal which is absolutely ideal for a summer afternoon. just far enough from camden town for the 'camdenites' never to come here. ideal

The Camel, Bethnal Green

definately one of my favourite pubs in east london, simply for the Paulaner weiss they have on, although at 4+ a pop, cant afford to have too many. defo seem like west london prices but the pies are top drawer and the staff and punters make for a good vibe.

The Coborn Arms, Bow

decent place, good for watchin the footy. particularly on a sunday with a roast and a few pints. got the full range of youngs on offer which are ok for what they are. only problem for one friend is they keep the banana bread beer in the fridge, not that I really care for the stuff. one of the better 'proper' pubs in the area

L'Oasis, Stepney

great pub and even more surprising considering the area. friendly staff, no nutters and consistently good music (if 50s and 60s do it for you). always got a a cask or two behind the bar as well as the meantime in the fridge and at sub-3 a pint, cannot complain. more a sit-and-have-a-chat kinda place but all the better for it
