Horrible - now doing alot of late night raves with heavy bass banging out. Has the potential to be good but disappointing.

When I was in the area I visited there again. It has much in the way of entertainments. Saw flyers out listing all events & this was quite impressive. Janet Kay (Silly Games) had made an appearance recently and I noticed that Romina Johnson from Artful Doger is there in April & one which I will be definately going to see & that is Rose Royce (Gwen Dickey) at the end of May. Spoke to the manager who tells me that every month end there are live artitis appearing....
I had a glass of chilled wine and my partner tasted the new Japanese beer (Asahi) which he said was great. Tried some Carribbean food as well.
I will be making a return visit in the near future.

This pub has recently come under new management & it has been revitalised. I enjoy Shepherd Neames products & the beer always tastes good.
The new owners are putting on alot of entertainment, DJ's most weekends with a 2am licence & the occasional Karaoke & Live Band. There are darts teams & pool teams & a new addition is Knockout Dominoes every Monday & Poker evening on Thursday.
On Sunday they have begun a new game called Open the Box followed by a Quiz and Play Yoyr Cards Right.
I enjoyed visiting the pub and will certainly make it my regular.

This pub has been my local for many years & I have seen it go down but under the new management things seem to be picking up. Nice decor & furniture, Sky TV and sometimes music is provided on Friday or Saturday night. Good DJ's playing good music; I think they were called Toxic !
Reasonable prices but sometimes the girls behind the bar need to put a smile on their faces.

I have just spent a Saturday night at the William IV - they had a sound system called Toxic and they were great, playing all kinds of sounds including reggae which was excellent. They have a MC who really got the crowd going and a lady who spun the tunes! There was a friendly atmosphere and free food was given out to the crowd. It also lasted to 1am!

The Albert Tavern, South Norwood
This is a pleasant pub & well decorated. However, the staff can be miserable & not particularly welcoming. Do not have much entertainment to attract customers with the exception of Sky. Ocassionally there has been a karaoke but was very mediocre.. A sound system called Toxic International played there a couple of times - cannot why the management has not hired them again. Needs more imput to make the pub a place to go to.

It's plain boring - very littel done to entertain the clientele. They need music to liven up the place> Over the road at the Golden Lion (not nearly so nicely decorated) but they do offer music (mainly reggae) every night. DJ Toxic play there on Friday night & they are the best DJ's in the area.
The Maple Tree needs an injection of something!

Eva & hubbie continue to manage this pub & it is the busiest pub in Norwood. No food but a good atmosphere and reasonable prices.
Entertainment value is very good. Live music, jam session, Karaoke and the best DJ's I have heard in a very long time often play there (Toxic Sounds). I have been there on many a Friday night & seen people dancing to their music and really having a good time. Lots of English & Polish flags are up which can be a bit off-putting! Good garden at rear, pleasant bar staff.

I went to see Kenny Thomas - the big 90's UK soul star & Angie Brown. It was a fantastic night out with excellent DJ's and a great atmosphere. All for only £15.
I see they have Caron Wheeler from Soul to Soul next month and then Aswad.
This pub is absolutely great.
