The Gate Hangs High, Hook Norton

This is a hardworking pub. It serves decent Hook Norton beer and homemade food. There is a good mix of locals and visitors. Very large garden perfect for children. Facilities to camp and caravan. Down to earth with ordinary drinkers on one hand : the sort of place you can take visitors for dinner on the other. A good time was had by all.

The Red Lion, Chipping Norton

I liked this traditional pub. It was just as it probabaly always has been - I think some people call them "taphouses". The beer was good and the people were friendly. I went and was tickled by a vegetable producee competition there - plenty of people to talk to - it seems well loved by a few. Hook Norton beer. A great little hideaway.

The King's Head, Bledington

A good middle of the road pub - done out in the standard style. Interesting menu, four real ales which were kept well. Staff not particularly friendly but adequate. Lots of space to find a corner though clearly geared towards eating rather than drinking.

The Crown Inn, Longtown

This pub is newly bought by a family. Freehouse. Good beer and good homemade food. Friendly landlord. Pool table, garden, darts, and restaurant. I liked it.

The Bridge Inn, Michaelchurch Escley

Fabulous river-side campsite with a warm welcome to all.
Regional real ale kept extremely well. Local cider on draft. Friendly locals. Locally sourced food cooked to your liking. Camping in the grounds of a pub: tell me - what could be better? Good old fashioned landlord: very accommodating.

The White Horse Inn, Wroxton

Absolutely awful. What a waste of a pub. Sleazy. Didn't eat - worried about the hygiene. Went to the other in the village instead.

The Roebuck Inn, Drayton

Brightly spotlit inside - a couple of Hooky beers. Food okay. Not exactly cosy or busy (on a Friday night) but the sort of place I could take my mother and she'd think that it was "clean". Not really my cup of "real ale" pub, but nonetheless adequate. Beer kept okay, though not a particularly well pulled pint.

The Pear Tree Inn, Hook Norton

Full range of Hooky beers. Friendly for a single female - invited into the locals' conversations after minutes. Reliable food - very good steak and ale pie: lots of meat and I could actually taste the beer in it. The sort of pub that's VERY difficult to leave on a Sunday afternoon !!!

The Plough Inn, Warmington

This pub is a genuine freehouse. Five real ales, all in fine condition - probably the best pint of Greene King's IPA I've ever had. Lovely head. A selection of familiar and less familiar beers. A discerning eater can easily see the homemade menu items - I ate a casserole that was made that morning. Friendly people and, as a single female, a very welcoming and understanding landlord. The sort of pub where you are involved in the locals'conversation within minutes. I loved it.
