The Garnon Bushes, Coopersale

Lovely quaint pub. But they struggle to serve a cold glass of white wine! How hard can it be?

The Moletrap, Tawney Common

The perfect way to watch a sunset. I hope this old pub never changes a single thing, apart from: can you spot the old sign outside upstairs with the name of the old brewery on? If that beer was served, I wouldn't want to leave!

But that was 14 years ago.

But it's still a 9/10!!

The Forest Gate Inn, Epping

Recommended for ales and prettiness - and great in the summer outside on the front

The George and Dragon, Epping

Lovely old pub with great bands on a Friday night - NO SORRY THAT WAS BEFORE! Let's go back to last Saturday evening...

These days, the truth is, you will only appreciate this pub if you enjoy warm beer (and a warm glass of white wine - try asking for ice - it confuses the young girls behind the bar) and a bottle of red that comes complete with a handy cork in situ.

Why?

Because the young girl said she didn't know how it came out. Having pointed her towards the bottle opener-shaped thingummywotsit, we watched (in pain) as she tried to fathom the device. I did it myself, poor thing.

Off outside to the tarmac: and it's sticky tables with fluid and food scattered - but nothing gave us such an appetite for staying than the vision of two USED NAPPIES on the floor. At least they were CLOSE to the bins (there are alot of bins for a pub this size!) Go there and have a great time spotting these and other quirks of what was once the third best pub in Epping. (Go to Black Lion or Forest Gate Inn)

Beer = 0; Wine = 0; Service = 0; Atmos = 0;
Used nappies = 2.

The Red Lion, Upper Basildon

Glad I live 2 drive hours away from here - otherwise I would spend EVERY Sunday here!

Great local ale - superb roast pork lunch last Sunday and friendly people.
