The Market Hotel, Elsecar

A fine boozer with a decent selection of ales and friendly, efficient staff. Recommended.

Flora Sandes, Thornton Heath

A hideous, nasty hole of a boozer. Inattentive staff, poorly kept beer and a strange smell. Clearly a "local pub for local people". Best avoided - go to the Telegraph up the road if you want a beer in the area.

Ye Olde Black Boy, Hull

This is everything a pub should be (except that it's in Hull). A first class selection of Real Ales, whiskies and fruit wines. The landlord is a top bloke too. In fact, this pub is the best thing about the city of Hull.

Green Man, Willington

Wasn't particularly impressed with the food but the boozer itself is decent enough with a good selection of ales.

The Racehorse, Carshalton

Nice, friendly little local with a decent selection of ales and a first class food menu.

The Retro Bar, Strand

One of the biggest crap holes I've ever had the misfortune of visiting. Made me remember exactly why I no longer bother with central London gay bars.

The Gipsy Hill Tavern, Upper Norwood

Decent enough pub for drinking in before a Palace match but let down by its lack of decent beer.

Lamb and Flag, Canonstown

I make a habit of visiting this place every time I'm in Cornwall. The food they serve here is first class and there's always a selection of decent ales.

The Bubble Inn, Stenson

Nice little boozer with a decent selection of beers in a tranquil canalside location. Food is good too and barstaff are competent and friendly. Gets a bit busy at weekends but locals seem friendly enough. Recommended.
