Sorry to say Red Lion has been closed, sold, converted to private house some years ago.

Pub is owned by a village consortium, now managed by the team who had
the Kings in Eccelshall . Good selection of ales, open fire friendly staff and customers. I've not eaten there but seen plenty of smiley people leaving the restaurant.

Castle re-opened after floods .
Reported to be back to normal , thank the Lord.
Next time I'm in Kendal The Castle is a MUST.
Brilliant managers, great staff, grand beer and best Sunday Lunch in Westmorland.
Darts,pool, doms, patrons who talk about any and everything.

The Blue Bell Hotel, Heversham
Visited last week, now Heversham Hotel, after extensive and expensive refurbishment. Interesting old building sympathetically modernised. Good range of keg beers and largers. Food cheap and cheerful really good value for the price. Only downer, tiny tables and silly huge plates, my pie and mash came on a rectangular and pals bangers were in a bowl you would feed a pony.
