The Victoria, Henley-on-Thames

What a nice surprise - used to be a bit of the ugly sister of Henley but has now blossomed into a friendly pub with an eclectic selection of drinks, a specialist pie menu (not tried) and a friendly crowd of locals.

Forms and interesting trio of pubs in a very small area with the Row Barge and the Brew Hse - something for everyone.

The Catherine Wheel, Henley-On-Thames

Double-sized Spoons, pleasant outdoor area, all the usual suspects beer and cider-wise, dirt cheap food and drink by Henley standards, what's not to like? Well, my main gripe is the staff who seem to either be trainees on their first day (not a problem, but on a busy Summer weekend?) or are utterly dis-interested in serving anyone.

We stayed here, rooms good value and if you've been here before you know to either bring your headphones or embrace the noise by staying in the bar until 1.00AM.

The Bull, Henley-on-Thames

Watched England win the Rugby World cup in here in 2003, since then has undergone many incarnation including being shut for long periods.

Currently the Bull is as much restaurant as pub, Symonds cider quaffed in the front part of the building was very pleasant and toe-curlingly expensive.

The Angel On The Bridge, Henley-On-Thames

Been here many times, excellent for a cold cider on the decking and watch the boats/swans, even though you get a plastic glass. Our group had food on this visit, again outside and a little to our surprise seeing previous reviews, it was very good pub grub. Staff were pleasant enough, if obviously only there for the season.

All in all, quite a positive experience.

The Henley Brew House, Henley on Thames

Micro brewery located in the old Police Station - numerous beers and ales, also mild and stout. Fiercely expensive and underpopulated during our visit. Nice decor (mind your knees as the chairs don't match the tables) and food menu, although this wasn't tried.

Nice to have a new bar to visit on the Henley crawl, fine for a couple at most but too pricey for a session.

The Bell Hanger, Chepstow

One of the nicer Spoons I've been to - split into three parts, clean with pleasant staff, Beer still too cold but still a pleasant place to spend a few hours whilst avoiding going to nearby Tescos

The Volunteer Inn, Lyme Regis

Really nice, friendly pub at the top of the hill, 4 draught ciders and several bottled varieties. Pub split in two with newly decorated dining area on one side. Bar staff were welcoming even to grockles. My favourite pub in Lyme Regis by some margin

Firebug, Leicester

Popped in here last weekend - had a nice pint of GL draught cider and a bottle of Addlestones. Food was adequate pub grub. Nice atmosphere (although bouncers on the door even at lunchtimes), friendly staff, not a bad place at all.
