The Sovereigns, Woking

Only ever go in for lunch but it is a great pub for real ale. Always with an excellent selection and plenty of info on the different beers. The meal deal is good and the bar staff seem to react well to large groups - i.e. if there is a delay on your meal they will tell you beforehand.
All in all a very pleasant experience!

The Huntsman Inn, Mangotsfield

It re-opened this year and has been getting good reveiews.

Green Dragon, Downend

Closed at the moment. Not sure whether there are plans to reopen it.
Nasty "BRFC" graffiti scrawled across the door. Good Meat Van parks up regularly in the car park.

The Moon Under Water, Hounslow

Excellent. The Manager and staff are always pretty quick, efficient and friendly. A great and varied selection of real ales are available.
Clientele also varied.

Best Wetherspoons I've ever been in.

The William Web Ellis, Twickenham

Usual Spoons fare. On the plus side, good number of real ales and a roomy old boozer.
Now the negatives.....
I must echo the other comments about poor service. I walked out in disgust about 3 months ago as the bar staff casually sloped around, only stopping every now and again to serve others who had been waiting a shorter time than me. There were also kids running loose in the bar. I was also turned away on a Friday night as I had trainers on. So overall I'd recommend visiting a better Spoons.

Ok, fair enough Florence. Glad you came on here and defended yourselves. I can assure you I wasn't "cidered" at the time I wrote it...I just didn't find them favourably comparable to some of the Pie, Mash & Liquor I have had in the East End, but that's my personal opinion at the end of the day. I've happily wolfed down quite a few, so they can't be bad can they??!! Overall it's a good pub so I ain't knockin' ya!

The Green Man, Great Portland Street

Went in after refurbishment on a Friday lunchtime. Place looked far more welcoming and open. Found a clean table and the selection of drinks was impressive (Erdinger on tap!)
Ordered a burger and chips - 45 mins wait I was told, not very reasonable but I was hungry and had a 1 hour lunch break...So I waited..... and waited...and waited...and waited.... and waited.... my burger came 1 hour and 20 minutes later!!!! SHOCKING SERVICE! Meanwhile one of my friends had finished hers precisely 45 minutes before mine arrived!! Bar staff kept apologising but seemed absolutely clueless. Never going back to this shambeliferous pub again!

The George, Great Portland Street

It is open again! Nice lick of paint. No big screen though.

The George, Great Portland Street

Still closed as far as I can see. Glad there was no loss of life from the fire.
Always used to find this a rather smokey pub (absolutely no joke intended) and quite packed, although good for watching footy. Strange that fire occurred 2 days before the World Cup started.

The Lukin, Warren Street

Go here quite a bit. Not massively into chain pubs but this one doesn't conform to your usual City Centre O'Neills. Had 1 absolutely cracking evening - bar lady was excellent and let us have access to a phone connected to the downstairs bar so we didn't have to step away from the pool table when we wanted to order drinks! Superb! Then joined some lecturers from the nearby Uni and had a good friendly chat til closing.
Always seem to have a good time here.

The Beaufort Hunt, Downend

Once got dumped here so not great memories for me! This place made the local headlines when a Welsh singing act were allegedly abused for being Welsh! Although the locals said they were being abused cos they were rubbish!!
Place seems like a decent honest to goodness pub.

The Fox and Hounds, Battersea

You're right - I don't understand why it was full. Obviously we weren't locals like you Ilikepubs and they felt they had the right to provide a level of service that was beyond disgraceful. In my case 1 v bad experience made a much longer-lasting impression than several good ones - that is the nature of the service industry.

The Fox and Hounds, Battersea

Bloody awful. Full of pretentious people eating overpriced rubbish.
To top it all I actually had my half finished pint whipped out of my hand and poured down the plughole by the absolute eejit of a barman. Complained vehemently to him that you don't do that sort of thing. Any bar I've ever been in, the bar staff ask you to finish it after last orders have been called. We all vowed never to return and I would advise anybody reading this not to go.

The Tower Tavern, Fitzrovia

Ok kinda place. Nothing to look at from the outside, but fairly decent inside. Good to watch the footy in. Pie, Mash & Liquor served on Fridays - however the pie is v much a Somerfield 99p for 4 job, no matter how much they go on about being homemade. Although it is superb hangover food.

The Crown and Sceptre, Fitzrovia

A pub I keep going to but don't really enjoy that much.
It has some over-funky decor and a weird array of chairs. Lunchtimes, avoid the rush before 1pm for great Fish Finger Sarnies and chunky chips. Evenings, probably best to avoid. If you don't have a seat you'll always find yourself in someone's way. Too few bar staff. Last summer it took forever to be served. I do like the drinks selection - some great cloudy cider and Koelsch on tap. Interesting note - the pub features in the "Easy Now" press ad for Red Stripe Lager.

The Hyde Tavern, Winchester

Another wonderfully characterful building that really does a pub justice. Enjoyed the whole experience as far as I can remember. Friendly barmaids.

The Black Boy, Winchester

Very snug and quite comforting pub in the chill of winter. Nice garden in the Summer. Nice location, olde world charm. Ok in my books.

O'Neills, Winchester

Yep, corporate, corporate, corporate, but the only decent place to watch live footy, plus the old late licence used to be a bonus.
Never overly enthralled with the place, plus one night I remember literally having to walk through pools of blood on the pavement outside. Nice.

The Fulflood Arms, Winchester

Great place - just like the Rovers Return, only Southern. Took part in the Pub Quiz on many a weekday evening and was welcomed as an Outsider. Jokes posted above the urinals and good beers just added to the character. Beautiful building architecturally.
