been back for food this weekend was good pub grub, portions are generous to say the least. the pub isnt the best for atmosphere but is good food and a pint
not cheapest but you do get what you pay for so worth trying the place....

Yeah nice pub now, had really nice steak here today washed down with good pint or Ruddles best, shame it still has to sell greedy king beers even tho not a tenancy anymore. got nice homely feel to it.

Havnt been in the Ship for quite a while as it went down hill so badly last 3 or so years with many differant pub cos owning it with transient staff. went in after a friend said it had changed and god it has, its CLEAN BRIGHT GREAT ALES ON (today they had Courege Best Directors Pedigree GK IPA) also shocked to see San Miguel on draught!! most startling thing was they had a wine menu, you were lucky before to have a choice of house white or a red! and a fairly large pub menu.
Got talking to the Bar maid who said it was now privatly owned and it shows, that someone is bothering with the place.
It may not be a 'traditional victorian boozer' but then again it never was, as every thing inside was fake before incl the beams reproduction fittings etc, so I guess nothing lost but a nice little pub thats getting back on the map.
