Long time since I visited this site. Thank you God for your prompt reply, that's one in the eye for all the atheists. Still no sign of settled management of this pub. I live in hope.

Went with seven friends on a saturday evening, did not start well. Our waiter did not know what the soup of the day was, could answer no other queries regarding the dishes, seemed totally at a loss. He vanished kitchenwards and a different guy appeared. From then on it was fine. Good choice of dishes, well cooked and served, pleasant surroundings, not over priced. Gordon Ramsay it aint, but that suits me fine. Try it.

Called in the other Sunday.
"Two pints of Flat Cap please," said my mate.
"Five pounds please," said the barmaid.
"**********" said my mate.
We left.

The latest application for licence renewal has been turned down, so it is said. Good news or bad? Would you want the ex customers of this notorious watering hole turning up in your pub? NO, neither would I.

Can no one make a success of this pub? It should have loads going for it.
Good catchment area, easy access, spacious interior with a variety of room sizes. Bowling green, car parking, outside seating for the smokers. Kitchens for food preparation. Is it simply the fact that pubs, as a whole, are on the way out? Please God, say it isn't so.

If you are in business in Horwich and owed money by anyone, call in Sam's Bar, you'll find them there.

Long may this pub flourish! If it keeps the foul mouthed, cloddish, bar squatters and under aged pill poppers out of my local, I'm happy.

Good place to go for quick meal. O K, not for your Michelin five star brigade, but neither are the prices. Choice of bitters, varied menu, clean, efficient staff, what more do you want?

What does that last comment mean? They eat strangers? They won't serve them? I'm baffled.

The Thatch and Thistle, Blackrod
Never had a bad meal there yet.In fact, never had a meal that was not really good. Good choice of ales, friendly staff, lovely surroundings. Sounds like an advert I know, but genuine. P S. Great quiz on thursdays.

Can't agree with the last posting. I was there, so was the landlady, David, her son was chatting to the customers. I sit close the corner of the bar, if we're talking about the lobby side of the pub. I heard nothing to complain about. O k the music is sometimes loud, but come on, loosen up or stay at home.

Now an Italian Restaurant called, Il Torro.
Been once, not impressed. Service was terrible, a meal ordered for nine pm, started to be served at ten minutes past ten. No apology, no excuses, no reasons.
Food was good, when we got it, but pricey. Must do better if it wants to maintain higher end reputation.

A come back from the dead pub if ever there was one. From a lone figure at the bar to a lively crowd, in little time at all. Who can forget the previous landlord with his Telegraph crossword and his happy smiling face, (Not)

A great mystery this one. Should be booming. Good location, decent lay out, pleasant interior. Recently more shut than open. I hope the new folk can get it together.

The foul mouths have it and no mistake. Range of beers good, prices not so.

Odd place, it does not seem finished off to me, as if something is missing. Beer prices are good, company varies.

This place has scope for everyone. A large room at the front with pool table for the younger end, another large room to the rear with curved seating round tables for chatting and a bar, vault and lobby for the rest. Visit at weekends, all those people can't be wrong.

Albert Arms, Horwich
Let's give this one a chance, just maybe they can change the nature of this pub and give us a decent option.
