Our favourite pub in a beautiful location. In the sunshine you can sit out by the water or in the winter you can sit by the open fire. The landlord and staff are all really friendly. The food is pricey but you always get a good meal, particularly the chicken curry!

We love the food at the Royal Oak, good helpings of food at reasonable prices compared to other nearby pubs. A beautiful location and well worth the visit. Choose your visiting time carefully though as it gets very busy at the weekend and service can be slow!

The Barley Mow Inn, Kirk Ireton
We had read lots of positive reviews about this pub and went out of our way to find it, but we didn't get the same friendly experience that many others have. It seemed a very 'local' pub where tourists were not wanted, not only by the drinkers who all stared at us as we walked in but also by the landlady how was very rude and made us feel very unwelcome.

The Malta Inn, Sandling
Nice for a drink, great location on the river. Can be a little pricey for food in the restaurant, better to get food in the bar.
