O'Neills, Bishopsgate

Now called the White Horse. Small, clean (too many empties around though) and a reasonable pint. Slightly on the pricy side but overall, not a killer.

The Barracuda Bar, Bishopsgate

Cavernous bar, useless staff and an awful pint. I dont care how cheap this are, some are still a rip-off and this is one of them.

Ye Three Lords, Aldgate

Tiny, hence why it appears crowded, clean enough, but the staff do let it down. Plus the ale was extremely ropey. OK if you're a lager swilling fool who doesn't mind waiting forever for a barley drinkable pint. As for pricing, I think blue_scrumpy must have hit the place at happy hour, it is over-priced and has been said before by someone, I suspect watered down, a lot!

The Peacock, Tower Hill

Would have missed this place if it was not for the crowd smoking outside, it blends in to the office building so well. Happy we did find it though, it was so good we visited twice!

The first visit impressed us, whilst crowded and stocked with lager swilling suits, it was a relief to be acknowledged and served quickly by efficient staff. A choice of only 2 ales from 4 pumps, but as has been said before, that is the bad thing in the City prior to weekend closures. Truly excellent ales though, and one local from somewhere in North London (Redemption) a most quaffable pint indeed particular at 3.00.

We continued our Crawl from here and fond nothing really worth staying at. So, we returned to find if anything it had got even busier! We settled in for the late session, it didnt close until about 1.30am and the atmosphere just got better. It was sadly late in the day when we noticed that the Juke Box was free on Fridays. The Juke Box, coupled with late hours, great staff, friendly customers and the best pints in the Crawl made our evening.

We will return, frequently!

The Minories, Tower Hill

Beer was undirnkable. Dire, dire, dire. It really is not worth commenting on.

The Hogshead, Tower Hill

Closed bu work in progress by the look of it!

Pitcher and Piano, Tower Hill

Bavarian Beer House, well it looks like Heidi would fit in, but there is little else one could call Germanic about the place, except of course for their extortionate pricing. 4.20 for a pint with a huge head and a 'humpf' when you ask for a top up. Best avoided if not addicted to bratwurst.

The Cheshire Cheese, Tower Hill

Odd sort of place with barely passable ale. Suelt staff, grubby beyond belief. I will rate it slight above the Pub Inspector's Bog Hole, but not much.

The Ship, Tower Hill

Lovely to look at from the outside, obviously the result of a recent paint job. The ale is OK, but nothing to rave about, they do sell Courage best though, not that I would drink it. Standard fit of cheap lagers. Staff are basic, seems the better you are known the faster you are served, they are far more suited to a Dagenham council estate! All in all, tiny (the reason it looks crowded), not to clean (empties everywhere) and surely staff who drink more then they sell.

The Crutched Friar, Tower Hill

Reasonable enough, clean with acceptable staff. I would not rave about the ale, but it is worth dropping in if you are passing. The best on the street, but that is not a challenge.

Goose At Fenchurch, Fenchurch Street

Best avoided. Whetherspoons without the frills! Why is this place in the City?
