The Boot, Chipperfield

I visited the pub on a Friday eve with my wife and a friend. The hostess was polite and friendly, and the food took a while to arrive, but was well worth the wait. The scampi and chips I had was excellent, and my wife and the friend seemed to like their dinner as well (hunter's chicken, veggie pasta bake). The prices were reasonable as well.
The range of bitter seems limited (IPA and London Pride), but the bitter I had (Pride) was well kept.
Would readily recommend this pub to any one looking for nice, quite pub serving traditional food.

The Clinton Arms, Littleham

We were a group of 18 who visited this pub on Saturday afternoon. The staff was quite friendly, and the landlord himself ensured that we were well taken care of. I had salmon fishcakes, while the missus had lemon sole. We both liked the grub. I would readily recommend this pub.

The Anglers Retreat, Marsworth

We visited this pub a few weeks back, encouraged by the reviews here. I liked the pub, and the food - the part which rankled me was being refused to serve tap water. My point of view is and always has been is that you are paying customer, requesting a glass of tap water is not an unreasonable request. I do not even mind paying a nominal charge for this "service", what I can not accept is being told "we do not do tap water" and being forced to buy bottled water.
For this reason alone, I do not think I will be visiting this pub again.
