The Crown, Islington

What has happened? Despite being a managed house the crown has always had the feel of a pub well run by people who care about it. Good food, good beers and a lovely victorian interior. That was the case.
It seems recently however that the staff have all been exchanged for eastern europeans that really don't care two stuffs about the customers or the pub. Although the menu looks nice the food is far from it, huge mountians of dried out over cooked sunday roast piled up on instant oxo type gravy.
It's one of the nicest pubs around, it just needs is a decent chef and some good staff.

The Star, Highgate

We tried to eat here on Friday but it was too busy, returned today and enjoyed a superb roast. No complaints about the service, although it was fairly quiet. Lovely pub, nice fire, will be returning soon for more of the same.

The Lord Stanley, Camden

Sunday lunch was amazing, quick to arrive and top quality, beer good, staff good, can't fault this place. Always a nice mixed crowd too, not just media types or haircuts like some similar establishments seem to attract.

The Engineer, Primrose Hill

A lovely environment for a few drinks and some food, unfortunately the man behind the bar spoils the experience by acting as if you are an unwanted guest at his party. The staff need to cheer up, lighten up and realise that they are not the coolest cats in town. If you want to behave like that head over to old street where the customers thrive on poor service. There is a pub a couple of hundred meters down the road, not as nice, but a lot more down to earth and friendly.
