The Pack Horse, Mapledurham

Brilliant pub, serving proper British pub food and good real ale, how a pub should be. The landlord was a real character, highly recommend.

The Twyford Inn, Tiverton

Fairly standard town pub, which attracts young crowd. Several real ales available along with the standard selection of lagers etc. Nice patio area out back to sit and chat. Can get busy at weekends.

The Tamar Inn, Calstock

Nice old pub, with real ales available. Good sized beer garden out the back which catches the afternoon sun.

The Britannia Inn, Buckingham

Has been refurbished and attracts students from the university, and is therefore good value. Standard beers! Not a huge fan, the mitre just down the road is a better bet but maybe not on a Friday night when packed with kids!

The Three Cups, Buckingham

Small pub tucked away, used to have a reputation for serving under age drinkers, seems to a shrugged this off. Now just seems smoky and full of old men and darts players, its not awful but when given the option would always choose to drink somewhere else, but is good place to meet for quick jar before moving on. Has two small bars at the front and rear, mainly lagers available.

The Grand Junction, Buckingham

Standard pub really, attracts a young crowd due to the fact that has a DJ and dance floor every Friday and Saturday night, but probably mainly down to the fact that it has a late licence. Always tend to see police hovering around this pub at kicking out time, not sure if thats a good or a bad sign. Tend not to drink hear often; just seems a bit rubbish if Im honest.

The Tudor Rock, Buckingham

Friendly atmosphere and staff, but the interior decor was interesting when I was last there, was a mix of a traditional pub style with beams, log fire etc.. Yet is mixed with an attempt at being a trendy bar, not sure it works all that well, feel it should be one or the other. The important thing is the beer, but unfortunately no hand pumps last time I checked, not great, meant having to have pints of John Smiths or lager.

Overall not great but certainly not awful, only worth a visit if on a crawl and only have to have a couple of jars!!

The Betsey Wynne, Swanbourne

New pub just opened locally, so far so good! Nice atmosphere plus is a free house and therefore regular guest ales!! Worth popping in if in the area!!

The Rose and Crown, Wingrave

Good village pub, cask ales avaliable! Friendly staff!

The Lord Nelson, Sydney

This place was brilliant, the best pub in Sydney without a doubt! The staff were really friendly and the food was great! Most importantly the beer was good too! They had six natural brews on tap when I was there, varying in strength and taste, but generally all good. The staff are more than prepared to chat about each beer and its respective qualities! The building itself was fantastic too, a must if ever in town!

The Norfolk Hotel, Fremantle

Really nice pub, friendly welcoming atmosphere. Several good, standard beers on tap and a wonderful courtyard to drink in and enjoy the weather. There is a basement lounge downstairs, which provides live music, saw a fantastic live band here whilst travelling called Bobby Blackbird and the Blue Jays, put on a really good show playing rhythm and blues/funk, Aussie style!! If youre ever in town, well worth popping youre head in!

Durty Nelly's, Paddington

Fantastic Irish pub, found it whilst staying in Sydney for a while, went there several times. Serves a good beer and the staff were great. Food was lovely, busy at weekends but providing awesome atmosphere. Worth a visit if youre ever over there!!

The Lord Dudley, Woollahra

Great boozer, found it whilst travelling last year. Very friendly staff, and good selection of beers. There are various bars on three levels, and the food in the restaurant down in the basement was great!

The Angel On The Bridge, Henley-On-Thames

Pretty standard, had a good pint!! Bet the place is awesome in the summer!!

The Ice Bar, Reading

Not a pub....but a club, a crap one at that! This place is proper budget, yet they charge high prices on non student nights!! In fairness if youre a student and smashed (min. 20 units before leaving), on a student night then its ok, just! But any other day of the week this place really sucks, and is full of chavs and clearly the birds idol Jade Goody! As for the building itself, weird design and layout, very cold as the bouncers insist on leaving the doors open. Avoid this place, your best bet would be to give up on the idea and head down to the Hobgoblin, now thats a pub to be proud of!

Revolution, Reading

Not a fan! The place sucks, can never get to the bar, never enough seats, and you have to queue for ages, only for the bouncers to be rude to you even though youre over 18, a paying customer & youre sober! They are like this with everyone. One bonus women love the place, great snatch!

12 Mar 2006 17:58

The Fruit Bat, Reading

Depends what youre after really, if you want a quiet pint of real beer, then don't go to the Bat! But if you want to get involved in the cheap lager, and have a laugh then do! Fantastic student drinking hole, 1 a pint on Tues & Thurs, Im sure you can imagine!

12 Mar 2006 17:45

The Globe Inn, Linslade

This is a nice family pub, particularly great place to go in the summer and sit by the canal, and enjoy a few jars. The bar food is good as well!

27 Feb 2005 14:08

The Bell and Hare, Tottenham

Situated very close to the south stand of White Hart Lane this is an extremely popular pub with Tottenham Hotspur fans, and therefore busy on match days, however provides a great atmosphere, particularly on derby days!

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

A must for any real pub fan! Good beer and food, great place to explore and find yourself a nice little corner to settle for the afternoon, where you know hundreds have been before you, real thought provoking surroundings, especially after a few jars!

The Eagle, Cambridge

A pub at its best! I turned up in Cambridge with a mate to see a gig at the Corn Exchange, we were several hours early and at a loose end and found ourselves feeling rather thirsty!! Having never been to Cambridge before we were unsure where to go, we wanted to find a good local! The first person I asked recommend the Eagle, what a stroke of luck! A really good, traditional, friendly pub with a really interesting history! After sinking several jars we headed to the gig, and managed to make it back for a couple more at last orders! If youre at a loose end in Cambridge, you now have a solution!

22 Feb 2005 12:49

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

A great experience, like stepping back in time! There are several bars on several levels, providing a truly traditional service, I went with my father after he had told me of the delights he had experienced after spending a good days drinking there when he was a 'youth'. I highly recommend the lager and the pub in general! Its a must visit; make the effort, truly great!

22 Feb 2005 12:35

The Moon Under Water, Milton Keynes

Cheap drinks, therefore best place to start before heading into Oceana just next door! If you dont like the bar/club scene then you wont like this bar! Very busy on Thursday nights, so order several drinks at a time!

22 Feb 2005 12:16

The Prince Of Wales, Steeple Claydon

A proper pub!
