Food service has improved immensly recently. Prices are extremely good and presentation of the food is excellent and the beer is well kept. My only gripe is that you find too many tables 'reserved', find somewhere else to sit, order your meal, finish an hour and a half later only to see those same tables still 'reserved' and still unoccupied !! Many times I have left because I could not find anywhere else to sit and half the tables 'reserved'. If they want to 'reserve' tables all evening then I am quite happy to go away and spend my money in a pub that adopts the attitude that 'if you want pub grub you comes in and takes yer chance with seating!!!!'. 'Reservations' are for gourmet restauarants not 'off the street' pub grub. BEWARE !!

Further to last the staff are actually very nice and very efficient now we have got to know them.
The beer is very well kept (HSB particularly) but as usual for a Fullers pub overpriced. Food is typical pub grub but a reasonably varied menu and perfectly acceptable. Again, the staff are efficient and friendly. Shame they dont do a smaller meal menu as they used to for those who dont want a large meal.
Fullers have slightly 'cocked up' the outside seating area recently by filling the front car park with ghastly metal tables and benches... WITHOUT any sunshades at all to protect the shiny heads of us old geezers.

Great pub, friendly and efficient service, a wide selection of real ales all kept to perfection. Promotes live music on a regular basis which is a bonus.
Best pub around.

Seems to be going downhill fast....maybe its the 'recession' biting.... but rarely many customers.
Beer still kept well and food reasonably OK. Bar staff polite and efficient but the two 'bar managers' come across as quite surly. Will still keep using the pub because the beer is good and its close to home but its atmosphere has changed for the worse.

Have just seen the comments posted by 'ITALISTAR'.
Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear !!!.....I used to be a firm supporter of freedom of speach but I am beginning to wonder whether it is wasted on some. Wait a moment though....perhaps aliens from the planet 'WHINGE' have landed at Hankley Common??

My partner and I visited this pub the other Saturday lunchtime. The Beer was excellent and the bar snack was also fine. So much so that we went back the following friday evening for a full meal. Beer excelent and the food also excellent. A real local public house that also caters for those wanting a nice meal.
If you want to pay 80 for the leg of a 'Kate Moss' style chicken garnished with a sprig of some sort of greenish foliage and dolloped, artistically it has to be said, in the centre of an unnecessarily large plate and answering to some totally irrelevant French name then dine in the West End. However, If you want a decent meal at a reasonable price in a nice little village pub that also serves decent wine and well presented beer then try the Woolpack in Elstead.

I have known this pub for years. It used to be a lovely little 'local' but I have to say, even as an Ex smoker of some 8 years, that since the Weasel faced, pointy nosed, muddy booted brat breeders took it over and it became 'proud' of its smoke free reputation it has become totally devoid of character and, more importantly, CHARACTERS. In a bar containing a mere 10 customers I recently waited 20 minutes to be served.....I think most of the staff were outside having a fag !!!

This is quite an old 1920's or 30's pub which has been renovated inside to a more modern standard. Some may not like this but it is very comfortable and relaxing. The young staff are all very pleasant, very efficient and very welcoming. The food is perfectly acceptable and caters for both 'bar meals' and offers excellent restaurant facilities. This was a Gales establishment now owned by Fullers but you can still get a couple of the Gales ales....whether you choose the Gales or the Fullers beers they are all very well kept and presented....the HSB is excellent as is the London Pride.
I knew this place when it was an old fashioned local pub/restaurant but despite the 'corporate' changes it has retained a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere which is complimented by the pleasant, efficient and attentive staff.
