The Jackdaw, Canterbury

I'd always wanted to visit this pub,as it features in one of my favourite ever films, the Battle of Britain. So after a visit to the nearby Battle of Britain museum at Hawkinge I took the short drive over.
From the front the pub is mostly unchanged, tho it has been much altered inside & a large restaurant area to the rear of the bar is a dominant feature.
Three real ales & one cider, Thatchers Heritage were available. I had a very good pint of Harvey's Bitter, & a three cheese ploughmans which was good value- there was no skimping on the cheese. The pub was very busy during my visit, but staff remained polite & friendly. Although food is clearly big here, drinkers were welcome in the front bar. there is a bus stop outside.

Wheatsheaf, Southwark

Paid my first visit here Thursday night & was impressed. A very decent range of beer on & good quality. Full marks for showing county cricket live on TV too :)

The Fisherman's Arms, Plymouth

Was here Saturday early evening & was very impressed. Tucked away a few minutes walk from the Barbican, there's only St Austell beers on as its tied but they were in fine nick. Landlady was very friendly & full of banter. Small but clean pub. Four of us ate & had different dishes, all of them were sensational!
