The Mole Trap, Stapleford Tawney

Absolutely the place to take any visiting friends from out of the country! Be sure to read the letter from a former resident posted on the wall about the history of the pub. Great selection of real ales and they are quite willing to help you choose the best for your palate. Tiny place in a beautiful setting, and limited opening hours - so be sure to check before you go.

The Bull, Theydon Bois

In the past few months I have had reason to frequent the Bull at least twice a week (waiting for a lift home). I have always found the staff very friendly - though I am not a personal friend of theirs. They are always cheery and helpful - will modify orders to suit the diner. A very comfortable place for a person on their own to linger, very near the tube station.

Queen Victoria, Theydon Bois

The quality of the food and service varies drastically depending on who is "in charge" at the time. Don't bother going in when Henry and Lesley aren't on duty - the staff are rude, they ignore customers to entertain their friends. Unfriendly, unhelpful and unprofessional. Over priced food and poor service - took over an hour for an order of chips to be served at our table! We used to go quite often, but have stopped, it just isn't worth the bother.

The Prince of Wales, Green Tye

My husband and I went to this pub in February - the food was far above the usual pub standard and quite price reasonable. The real ales are a treat and they also have a comprehensive Whiskey selection. Friendly staff and locals, comfortable and interesting decor as well.
