Lewes Arms, Lewes

I remember in Suffolk when Greene King was a small "local" brewery. Similar things happened in the mid 80's when Ind Coope came in and bought up pubs and sold "corporate" beers.

Ah how your memory is short Greene King. If Ind Coope did this to you 25 years ago, why are you just repeating their mistakes?

I am new to Lewes, but will not go into this pub...yet! Hopefully things will change!

The Globe, Brighton

Good beer in a good atmosphere.

What more do you need?

The Prince of Wales, Brighton

Very small pub. But as they say, "diamonds don't come as big as bricks" and this is a good pub. The staff are friendly and accommodating, making customers welcome. The Spitfire was very well kept and always served with a smile and a chat.

Small pubs do get smokey, it is a fact of life...if you don't like it, visit this pub in July!

Excellent.

Robin Hood, Tring

What a Pub!

The New management, coming up to six months in charge, have made a real difference. The beer is not just good, but excellent. Tied to Fullers (London Pride, E.S.B., Chiswick and Discovery Blonde were available last I was there) but they always have at least one guest in (Adnams, Brakespears are the most recent).

A single bar pub with a large tabled "almost restraunt" area as well as the usual pub style seating. The food is good. Very good. Imaginative and tasty, using quality ingredients. Not a "pub grub" menu, good, well thought out dishes.

Staff always happy and friendly, willing to make you feel welcome. A good safe pub that has improved enormously with the new management.

The Pelham Arms, Lewes

New to the area so didn't know the previous management, but the current incumbents seem to be doing a good job.

A large single bar pub, spread over several "rooms" with a pool table and dart board at one end, tables and space at the other. Decent Jukebox played at a "not too loud" volume so conversation is not overpowered.

A great pub. No pretences, just an honest boozer. Good beer, friendly staff, friendly locals, good live bands and a Wednesday evening Poker night that is very popular!
