The Boaters Inn, Kingston Upon Thames

Have visited this pub many times over the past 10 years, and found the location to be perfect, what ever the weather. The beer is good with a good selection and often changed. The food has nearly always been good and sensibly priced but yesterday visited with a friend for lunch and had a Boaters Burger. The food was very good indeed but the price was very high for such a meal, £13.95. The menu is not as currently on their website. The beer at £4 a pint of Adnams was also steep. I appreciate the location and view etc, but. The service was fine and waiting time was good too, maybe you get what you pay for.

So, good beer, good food, good service, good location, high prices.

The Abinger Arms, Abinger Hammer

I had never been in this pub before, but will go again. A true Pub, I wish it was my local. No pretending to be anything else. Had good beer, Adnams, good food prices, good local pub atmosphere. The car park is small and local parking not easy, with the car park full I parked a distance away, expecting the pub to be full, but only four in, so who are all the other cars?

Background music was not loud and generally I thought was not needed. Liked the Morris men and the singing inside afterwards. Bar staff very friendly, helpful. A bit old fashioned inside but that should not put you off, unless you like the spotless, blandness of other group pubs. Dog and children friendly. Has a dart board.

The Royal Oak, Holmbury St Mary

Looking at the other reviewers I can agree with some comments, like the brash male landlord or the foreign barmaid who lives on another planet. But having visited this pub a number of times recently during the day, it is a good place for beer, or a quiet read by a log fire, a good selection of food from chip butties to full christmas turkey. The quality of the food was good, although a little high in price compared to others in the area. The landlord was helpful despite the dog, the weather. and lack of other customers. I would recommend this pub for a lunchtime drink/meal or an evening out with friends but not a romantic evening with your lover.

The Six Bells, Newdigate

Location : Very Good
Parking: Very Good
Beer: Selection and service good, Price above average compared to others in the area.
Atmosphere: Good
Food: The selection is good but the service and quality are poor. We booked for 10, they knew we where coming, There was only one other table of people in the pub, but still it took over 30 minutes to serve food to the first of our group and a further 20 minutes for the final 3 to be served and then the sausages where still frozen inside.
Would I go there again for a beer? Yes
Would I go there again for a meal? NO

The Prince Of Wales, Westcott

I have now visited this pub on 4 recent occasions. The staff including the chef are always attentive and helpful. I agree with other reviewers that the beer is overpriced and not served at it's best, they could cure this if they had the mind to. It does not have a pub atmosphere more a restaurant come hotel, but the food was very good on all my visits, but a 1 off each course would help. It is clean and comfortable, and plenty of extra space for a group.
Am I going again when in the area Yes. Would I suggest it to others looking around there Yes. Easy Parking.

The Running Horse, Leatherhead

I think that some of the comments I have just read on this pub review are a bit overly harsh. But having said that as a regular pub goer, I give this pub a 4 for existing and having a try at it albeit not a very good try. The beer is indeed rubbish when served, what do they do to it? I have had the same beers elsewhere and they have been good. I tried 2 pump beers the first was dreadful the second Late Red was just OK.
It is a good old style pub inside and when packed has a good atmosphere, provided by the customers as it was when a recent Morris group attended for a sing along. Would I recommend it to a friend NO.
Would I want to stop others going there NO, as this is just my opinion and they may feel differently.

The Wheatsheaf, Ewell

This is just a good ordinary pub. No frills, good beer, warm and comfortable surroundings.
Loos a bit snug, but recently decorated. Well attended by locals and can be busy at prime times as it is a small pub with a small serving area. Good log fires when cold. Most staff can be friendly but sometimes stern and efficient. Would go again. PS Saw the local Morris Men here and it was great.

The Jolly Coopers, Epsom

A generally friendly place, but can seem boisterous at times when the pool table is busy or a match is on the TV. The cosy bar is fine. Beer is very good and have some good guest beers that change.
Prices are OK. Very much a local with an old comfortable feel. Landlords good fun and most staff are too. It's not the place to impress anyone yet, but given time this could be. Nothing like other local pubs in the area as it's real not dressed up.
