The Old Lodge, Minchinhampton Common

Lovely setting. Lovely dining room. Have been twice without a booking. Its always a big deal to squeeze you in even though the dining room remained half empty on both occasions. Well overpriced for the area. On a par with London restaurants for prices. Service pleasant but some staff training required. The guy when asked if a particular wine was dry said he had no idea.

Maybe the owners need a wake up call and get a more hands on approach

The Rose and Crown, Nympsfield

This pub use to be one of the busiest pubs in the Cotswolds. Bad freehold ownership/mangement over the last 11 years has led to numerous managers come and go, bankrupcy cases and even short closure. Lets hope now that the freehold is finally up for sale that it can return to its former glory as the location pub it once was. It needs an owner landlord to make this place work. The village of Nympsfield deserves to see this 300 year old plus pub thrive. Its a wonderful building in a wonderful village. It would be nice to see someone contribute to making this place work to a fuller potential than it has done for years

The Salisbury, Leicester Square

Went into this pub for a pint on Sunday afternoon and ended up staying for three. Very rare for central London the manager whose name is Jaz I believe was all smiles, greeted customers and said farewells, was passionate about his beers and the pub trade. Was I really in the West End

The Coleherne Arms, Earls Court

As a frequenter of The Coleherne of old I would advise anybody who use to go there to pay a visit to get an example of a 21st century gastro pub. It is totally a soul less experience. I accept the pub needed some improvement whilst in the hands of Mitchell & Butlers who invested no money in it. It is interesting to note the pub kitchens are now where the squalid toilets use to overflow and it is interesting to pay a visit downstairs into the old cellar to see the brand new toilets and the kitchen storage room with its banks of freezers - most probably full of portion control preapared meals. The decor is a bit gentrified and gone are the days when you could swill basic cooking lager like Carling till you fell over. Pubs are about people and interaction. Everyone in this place were in their cosy little pairs. It's not a pub and its not a restaurant and and it will be interesting to see where it takes its place in the Earls Court marketplace in a shrinking drinking eating out environment once the new year turns.

79 CXR, Charing Cross Road

The later it gets the crusier it gets and the dearer the beer gets. Worst toilets of a gay bar in London - wake up Westminster Council Enviromental Health.

The Pembroke, West Brompton

They even have a quiz on a Thursday night - how times change - what would the leather boys of days gone by make of that. First rate friendly bar staff - full of fun and know how to make their locals welcome. Has become a good gay local pub with a hardened drink force. Most probably the cheapest pint of Carling in Earls Court at 2.50 - who says people cash in on the pink pound

The Old Crown, Uley

Re-opened a year ago this popular traditional village pub has gone from strength to strength. Ben the land lord takes great pride in his choice and variety of real ales while his other half Mary the landlady prepares traditional pub food. Well worth a visit.

The Quebec, Marble Arch

This is a brilliant pub only ruined by the agressive manager and his side kick boyfriend , agressive humourless doormen and arrogant staff.

Quite why Greene King keep this manager with countless complaints against him defies belief.
