The Bridgewater Arms, Chester

Good litte back street boozer, mainly locals as no real passing trade. Pool and darts in the bar +Sky sports. Lounge a bit like someones front room, but comfortable never the less. Just off the main drag (City Road)minutes from the railway station. Wait here for your train.

The Steam Inn, Chester

Alas no more, now a trendyish bar entered by the main entrance of the hotel. Still expensive.

The Mount Inn, Boughton

A great local back street pub.
New landlord, new beginings. friendly pub frequented by mainly a local crowd. Busy early doors. 4 hand pulls served to perfection.
Friendly attentive staff. a pub definately on the up.

The Plumbers Arms, Chester

Now back to its original name hurrah, The Plumbers Arms. Its gone through and number of changes and landlords but now seems on the up. Good friendly landlord and staff. great hand pulls 4 i think. A hard pub to find but at this present time worth a look. And hope it can only get better.

The Commercial Hotel, Chester

Great little pub, 4 good hand pulls. Great value for money home cooked food. Friendly pub mainly frequented by regulars which is getting rare these days for a city centre pub. Have been drinking there off and on for 30 years. Decor a little jaded and perhaps could do with a lift, but thats my opinion and perhaps thats its charm. 1 0f 3 pubs in St Peters church yard.

The Grosvenor Arms Aldford, Aldford

Another very good pub, same chain as Harkers. Quality ales and very good food. Again no distraction like tv, bandit etc. etc. probably over 80 malts too.
No children after 6pm. No smoking area. Very friedly landlord and staff.

The Square Bottle, Chester

The usual vertical drinking establishment in the evenings, busy with students and the like due to the good value food nights. Day time busy with hardened drinkers and shoppers due to the 10am opening and reasonable prices. Never the less a great selection of beers well kept and very reasonably priced.

The Union Vaults, Chester

Nice little back street pub, seems to attract mainly locals. If i remember correct 2 or 3 hand pulls.
Split level pub. Friendly atmosphere. Handy for the station. Worth a look if your passing after The mill hotel.

One of the few hotel bars that feels like a pub. Great atmospere, excellent staff and plenty of them.
Most important they serve an ever changing 15 real ales including a mild and draught cider. Its like a mini beer festival everyday. handy for the station too. good reasonable grub.

The Old Harkers Arms, Chester

Excellent pub, ever changing real ales served with a smile. Great food. No pool table, bandit, tv, or background music. A more mature crowd.
