The Royal Oak, Guildford

Gales ales which is rare

The Keep, Guildford

Visited Saturday 4th July.

Only one ale on the go - which was they Surrey Hills, a fine pint mind you. But perhaps they could do a little more ales?

The sitting areas are nice and reasonably spacious for a fairly small pub.

On the downside the home cooked food was somewhat disappointing, but perhaps I simply chose the wrong option from the menu. So right now i'd give it 8/10. Service was ok but not amazingly friendly.

The Cock Tavern, Walthamstow

Haha, by the time they read this message it shall be long gone - you should ring the pub or go back there yourself!

Old Orleans, Guildford

Only worth it if going to the cinema as well.

Food is less than average.

Beer is not special.

But I like the American theme as there are not many American theme places in the city.

Casino, Guildford

It is often closed in the day but opens later in the evening.

I think a bottle of Becks will set you back over 4 quid.

Yes, my friends that works out at nearly 8 pounds per pint.

So I would not go.

Rodboro Buildings, Guildford

A fine spoons.

It scores well on the 'Scores on The Doors' report and all.

So worth eating and drinking here.

Becks was 99p at one point.

Bar Med, Guildford

Given Flares shall be full of ladies and gay men then I think the yobs shall come here.

On visits the beer quality is poor.

Nobody cares about the venue.

A depressing mess.

21 Jun 2009 19:50

Flares, Guildford

Another of the gay bars in town.

The only thing I can about the gay bars is perhaps it shall keep the yobs from coming.

Did not like as Edwards and certainly don't as Flares.

Also a huge waste of money.

21 Jun 2009 19:49

Scrumptious, Guildford

It is called Scrumptious and is now a gay bar.

Probably not recommended for the straight guy.

Was small and cramped when called Platform 9.

As the Plough it was a reasonable locals pub.

21 Jun 2009 19:48

The Keystone, Guildford

A hidden away little treat.

Good atmosphere.

Excellent choice of ales.

Eating here is a good choice also despite what others have complained about.

21 Jun 2009 19:47

The George Abbot, Guildford

A little on the dark and gloomy side.

Even so worth a few beers as there is a great range.

Notable beers include Greene King IPA, Abbot and T.E.A.

Other beers include Hoegaarden and Leffe.

21 Jun 2009 19:47

The White House, Guildford

A fine Fullers pub.

Modern style on the inside.

Excellent choice of beers.

Would eat here if less pricey.

21 Jun 2009 19:46

The Britannia, Guildford

Decent quality selection of ales and lagers alike.

Staropramen and Spitfire caught the eye the most.

Not a bad spot for a drink.

Situated by the River Wey.

21 Jun 2009 19:45

The Legion, Guildford

Only club in town worth going to.

Excellent mixture of people.

Modern and trendy at the same time.

A few beers worth having on offer.

21 Jun 2009 19:45

Pews, Guildford

A fine and welcoming atmosphere.

On the downside it is situated near lots of takeaway places which means it gets the yobs at times.

Would come here more if in the area.

Worthwhile for sport on tv.

21 Jun 2009 19:44

The Star Inn, Guildford

Good for your rock or metal lover.

Fine jukebox adds to the atmosphere.

Pretty fine range of ever changing ales.

Just needs a bit of maintanence.

21 Jun 2009 19:43

The Keep, Guildford

Does need a little bit of maintanence around the edges.

Great local ales and lovely to eat here also.

Attracts a business class crowd at times.

Worthwhile in the summer too.

21 Jun 2009 19:42

The Royal Oak, Guildford

Good gales pub.

Nice local crowd.

Ok for sitting outside in the summer.

Don't get too drunk and walk on the graveyard.

21 Jun 2009 19:41

The Thai Terrace, Guildford

Basically a restaurant.

Better thai food here than the Tup.

Reasonable selection of lagers.

Nice place to chill out and eat something spicy.

21 Jun 2009 19:40

Fahrenheit 55, Guildford

Not always that enjoyable.

Tapas food is not the best.

Cramped inside.

Reasonable selection of beers.

21 Jun 2009 19:40

Jo Clarks, Guildford

Nothing exciting.

Does live Jazz on some nights of the week.

Would go here for a late night coffee or tea.

Ok if your not an alcoholic.

21 Jun 2009 19:39

The Guildford Tup, Guildford

Bit mundane these days.

Perhaps it needs yet another name change.

Thai food is only average.

Rugby pub as others have said and the staff need to cheer up.

21 Jun 2009 19:38

The Live and Let Live, Guildford

Locals pub.

Rough part of Guildford and not worth going to.

They do live music on Saturdays for those interested.

Beer is poor.

21 Jun 2009 19:38

The Five and Lime, Guildford

Quite a small city pub.

Ok for the odd drink however.

Music tends to be your dance variety.

Not bad outside in the summer months.

21 Jun 2009 19:37

All Bar One, Guildford

Not really the best place to eat.

Drinks are also quite limited and on the pricey side.

Worth a go at times as its not always the worst crowd.

Can get cramped at times nontheless.

21 Jun 2009 19:36

Slug and Lettuce, Guildford

Typical chain bar.

Acceptable as somewhere to go for a drink as its spacious.

Crowd on Fridays and Saturdays are not always the best bunch.

Not worth eating as I would not trust the food at somewhere like this.

21 Jun 2009 19:35

Farriers, Guildford

Not bad although far from the most exciting atmosphere.

Beer is ok as others have mentioned.

Eating here is very pricey however.

Lovely old pub nontheless.

21 Jun 2009 19:34

The Robin Hood, Guildford

Live music on Fridays and Saturdays.

The live music on the Fridays tends to be blues music. On Saturdays its more your rock and roll.

Ok bands and atmosphere.

Bit grubby so would not eat at this venue, good pint of Youngs bitter.

21 Jun 2009 19:33

The Albany, Guildford

Used to be a good pub - now it has become quite dull.

Not recommended for a fun night out and the ale range is nothing to write home about.

Really a dining out sort of pub now with Gavin and his Guitar the only entertainment on offer.

Also, quite posh.
