The Steam Packet, Topsham

Great place, great landlord, I pop in every time I go to Topsham

The Crown and Greyhound, Dulwich

Excellent pub especially when there's a good guest beer on tap.

Yes, the food is good, pity the windows don't open

It's a pity that the current obsession with football has taken over. Why can't fans get their beers in Sainsburys and watch it at home. Then we could return the pub to a place of peace, relaxation, contemplation and steady consumption. Mind you, I am looking forward to my first pint of Adnam's "We've lost" bitter

It's good to back after my travels. I'm delighted with the current range of soft drinks, all so reasonably priced. Many thanks to all.

Richard I, Greenwich

Very small outside front area. I sat down, quietly sipping my pint when I was hit by a three bikes racing along the pavement.

Basin unit in gents has now been repaired. This work took a while but has at last been completed. Wonderful news. Congratulations to all those who campaigned tirelessly on this website. It is gratifying to know that it is so effective. The next step is to renew the drains so that the bogs stop flooding, which would enable customers to use them without wearing wellingtons.

The Halfway House, Barnes

What a discovery. My thanks to Mr.Pilot for telling me about this pub. The staff are friendly, polite and what's more, efficient. They look for customers rather than avoiding eye contact. There are usually four good draught beers on tap, all in excellent condition and changing weekly. This is a proper local run by a good team. There's entertainment about three evnings a week varying from blues singers to jazz.I wish I lived nearer. Until then I'll have to endure the expensive and rapidly declining Crown and Greyhound in Dulwich.

Has anyone seen Phil W. recently?

Is this place still run by that Norwegian woman, can't remember her name, must have been in the late sixties.

The Rose and Crown, Greenwich

There's always been problems with the toilets in here. The gents are underground and used to flood frequently especially after a high tide. At one point in the seventies, they were only accessible using diving gear, but we managed. These days, everyone is moaning and groaning all the time and talking about the food in the pub.I think this food business is ruining pubs generally. one of the worst things to happen after teabags and tights.

Bar du Musee, Greenwich

Ordered a meal here last August, still waiting, let me out!

I'm afraid I must agree with Matt. What is it about staff from the antipodes when they are put in a position of responsibility. They seem to become obsessed with power.

The Ashburnham Arms, Greenwich

I used to frequent this place some time ago. Is it still run by John and Betty.

The Guildford, Greenwich

My Goodness, This place has changed. I used to live around here and used this place or the Ash. I'm going to spend a few hours in here on Sunday next to give the place a thorough checkout.

Excellent idea Louise. I'm off to walk the dog now and will pop into the pub for a couple of Badgers if there's any left. The managers called Duncan, I believe. If he's around, I'll mention it to him.

In reply to a previous comment lets keep the bar for drinkers and create a conservatory of music (piped or otherwise) out the back. The manager should know better than to push older customers into the hothouse.
As for me, I am an accomplished player of the bagpipes and would be delighted to fill the pub with glorious pipe music.

The Rye Pub, Dining Room and Garden, Peckham Rye

Yes, if I went charging around yelling in a playpark, I'd soon be thrown out.

The Clock House, East Dulwich

Have to agree with Mrs Kermit, this pub is expensive for Peckham/East Dulwich borders. Don't you think there're just too many hanging baskets outside. Encourages wasps and hay fever. don't you think.

Popped in here at lunchtime and for once the music was low. Everybody seemed quite happy I might add. maybe they've got the message. Just the two pints of Badgers best was quite pleasant

The Patch, East Dulwich

I had a couple of pints of Broadside here on Saturday night, excellent beer by Adnams.I thought the place was ok, if a little bit too bright. The thing about a revamped pub is that it takes a few years to wear in.

I think pilot's suggestion about having a quiet bar is excellent and fair.Darth is right, the pub has plenty of room. Perhaps visitors to this site would care to support this, maybe it will do some good.Incidently if any staff are looking in, it would be interesting to hear their opinion.

Who is that guy with the Guiness advert on his shirt? He plays the trombone like a master, sounds that take me back to the 1930's in Paris. This pub is excellent when they switch off the piped music and let the people have their way. The beer choice is now up to eight tastes of heaven. Get here before the weekend when it turns into hell.

The Commercial, Herne Hill

Yes, this pub is really expensive although pleasant. can anyone recommend a cheaper quieter pub in the area?

Have to agree with you pilot and so do my colleagues. We have thought for some time that the once peaceful atmosphere of this pub is being eroded. It's a shame as the beers continue to be good but the ambience has suffered.B
