Called in on a Tuesday evening last week at about 10.00pm. A couple of people in, other than that, it was empty. The first words from the barmaid were " I can't serve you after a quarter to eleven". Most welcoming. Won't rush back there.

The rudest staff in Winchester. They probably don't mean to be, but they are as thick as s**t. Pub smells of piss - take a look in the Gents to see why. Could be a good pub. Never seen anyone in there who resembles a landlord or landlady.

Mark (from the Crown in Highfield) has now taken this pub over. He's making a real go of it. Real ales as good as ever. He's even got the paintbrush out. Blimey......

Heineken is OK when the pipes are clean and the barrel relatively new but can be dodgy. Avoid drinking in the afternoons. The barmaid does everything she can to avoid serving (and anything other work). Known as Mrs. M (for Misery) Guts. Bit tired - could do with a spruce-up, but the evening bar staff are still the most attractive in Southampton.

The Flowerpots Inn, Cheriton
This is a top pub. There's a Beer Festival this weekend (26th to 28th August 2011) with a a cracking range of beers - and a Curry Marquee! On the Saturday night, top local band The Replays are in the main tent. Not to be missed.
