The Double Locks, Exeter

I LOVE this pub.

Just do yourself a favour and go there.

The Palm Tree, Mile End

Please do not got to this pub. It's my favourite and I want to keep it to myself!

Has the most incredible interior that's apparently been frozen in time since 1930, also boasting a bar till that would make Arkwright from Open All Hours scared and an ancient spangley gold drum kit. It's like some surreal living pub museum and I love it!

Also has a fantastic expanse of wild grass outside next to the canal which is just perfect for lazing around on hazy sunny afternoons, with locals from the climbing club next door often tight rope walking between trees.

It's a local bar for local people. Don't go there. It's mine!

The Royal Inn on the Park, Victoria Park

This is a wonderful pub and you couldn't ask for a better location on a sunny day as it's right in the middle of the park and has a fantastic beer garden! Have had many amazing sunny beery afternoons there with a great bunch of locals.

...but! Have to agree with some of the people that posted before me that when busy the service is veeeeerrry slow and erratic. Have had more than a few occassions where i've walked out after standing at the bar for over 20 mins as the bar staff don't have and sense of hustle and don't seem to keep track of who's been waiting.

The Morgan Arms, Mile End

Am quite surprised by the previous comments as i've always found this to be a great pub. I've a suspicion that the over the top use of SHOUTY CAPITALS and unnecesary swearyness in the below comments suggest there's a few people with a personal axe to grind!

Personally have found it to be a great pub. Staff are friendly and helpful enough, it has a nicely designed interior, a separate dining area so that those that want to drink can drink and those that want to dine can dine. Have never had a problem getting a table and the quality of the food certainly warrants the price (which is still pretty reasonable compared to other gastro pubs of the same standard).

If that doesn't sound like your kind of bar then you'd probably be best heading to your local Weatherspoons for a 5 burger and beer. Where you can enjoy the company of the nice folks that have posted below ; )

I'd give this one a solid 8/10.
