This used to be good but has gone terribly downhill over the last year or so. Apparently they are closed for a refit (now / soon) so will see what it's like after that.
The beer is usually good. Hopefully they fix the food after the refit as it's become very bad. Service could be better too.

A great addition to Caversham. Lovely atmosphere. Very family friendly
The beer is fine, though limited tap choice.
Tried a chicken and beef burger here, both good, but the buns are too heavy.

Go here for Beer. It's good. It's cheap.
Do not go here for the food. It is by far the worst I have ever experienced.
I've not ventured into the garden, but hopefully they do something to address it.

The Shoulder of Mutton, Playhatch
This pub used to be good, but has priced itself out of my book. They gave it a bit of an overhaul a year or so ago, but maintained the same menu (mostly) and the costs of the meals are horrendous and the quality poor. If you want to pay a lot for a pub meal you are better off at the crown up the road, where the food is expensive but also good.
The beer is fine and they are now doing a Loddon ale, but after my last visit myself and those with me will not be venturing back.
