The Red Lion, Gatley

Closed, now open as a tesco metro. Probably sells better beer now than it did as a pub!

Gothic Bar, Gatley

Sadly closed by cains last year. This pub was allowed to go downhill by reducing the beer range and quality to a point where they could justify closing it.

The Blue Blazer, Edinburgh

Great little corner pub, Decent selection of real ale, and we were lucky enough to get a free jim beam due to a promotion that was taking place.

The Black Bull, Edinburgh

On a recent visit to edinburgh i had my worst pint of the trip in here (Theakstons black bull bitter.) Won't be back.

Kay's Bar, Edinburgh

Fantastic pub, great choice of real ale (7) served by friendly staff. Good banter with the owners staff and customers, Best pint of my visit to Edinburgh was had in here (Belhaven 80/-.) Certainly worth the effort to get to this pub if your in Edinburgh.

The Guildford Arms, Edinburgh

Interesting pub, great choice of real ale, let down on this visit by one unfriendly barman and a strange sewer type smell in one corner of the pub.

Cafe Royal, Edinburgh

Amazing building, ales tasted were of good quality, shame the refurbished toilets has lost it's blue and white porcelein sinks, they were a unique talking point for the pub!

The Abbotsford, Edinburgh

From the outside this pub doesn't look very appealing. The windows are now half coloured black, so you can't see inside, and a tv screen has been placed in the middle of each window normally showing menus (although some pictures of the inside do pop up.) Once inside though, you are inside a traditional pub, as mentioned, a great ceiling (as in lots of edinburgh pubs) and a cracking island bar. 5 stewert ales were available, poured using one of the traditional scottish air dispense taps. We tried 4 different ales, all got good marks, but mine had a few lumps in the head. (first out of the cask that day.) Would certainly visit again.

The Edgar Wallace, Temple

Had a great pint of moorhouse ale in here the other night, then later went in the harp and got talking to a bloke who turned out to be the landlord of the Edgar Wallace, had a great chat with him and was promised a pint on the house next time we buy one in the Wallace, unfortunately, it will be a year before we are back in London...I wonder if he will remember!

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

Well kept beer and a smashing sausage roll, just needs a resident moggie to make it the perfect pub.

The Hog's Head, Didsbury

Normally a decent place for a pint of real ale and a cheap meal, but the real ale has been off the last two times we were in.

The Clock Tower, Didsbury

Oh, dear. No real ale served here. Went in on a sunday afternoon and it was empty. Only the jukebox with some decent heavy rock tracks saves this from getting 0/10.
