The Charles Dickens, Worthing

Yes, it IS a very impressive refurb. I miss the pool table though, but then I like a bit of spit and sawdust. Great comfy leather chairs if you're looking to veg out with a pint or a glass of wine. Friendly staff, plenty of outside space for the smokers.

The Vintners Parrot, Worthing

Yes, this is a really good pub for watching the footie, whether you're on your own or with mates/girlfriend. Sometimes gets too packed, specially if there's a Chelsea/Man U match on, so the Warwick is just yards away, also showing footie.

The Flying Scotsman, Caledonian Road

This place is one of my favourites when I'm in London on my todd - couple of pints, something nice to gawp at on the stage, no frills. Bar staff are a bit miserable, specially the young woman on this evening. And some of the entertainers are a bit pushy - but if you like spit and sawdust and have a pocket full of 50pences, give it a go!

The Montague Arms, Worthing

I drop in occassionally, specially when there's football showing, but you do get sideways looks from the regulars when you go in. Went in with a mate once and before we could take a slurp of beer one of them leaned over with his fists on our table and challenged us to a game of pool - felt like he was sizing us up, not after some new mates. Generally like it though - never too busy.

Sir Timothy Shelley, Worthing

Long waits at the bar sometimes - alright to hang about for a spookily quiet pint. Some strange sorts hang out there in the smoking section (while it lasts) but that makes it kinda interesting.

The Rose and Crown, Worthing

I like this place. They show footie but it's not too rowdy, and the beer's ok. They describe it as 'not a fun pub but a traditional pub that's fun'. Guess so. It's also one of those places you don't feel like a Norman-no-mates if you're on your own, which I tend to be, not knowing many yet in Worthing. And you're not made to feel like an unwelcome stranger in these parts. Friendly bar and restaurant staff.
