The Globe Inn, Sampford Peverell

Used to be a great pub but now seems to trade on high volume, medium cost , low quality and value. After a very average meal in the uninspiring gardens a girl came outside to wipe out the ashtrays and used the same cloth without even rinsing it to wipe the glass topped tables! The gents toilets had bogeys stuck to the walls - i would recommend a walk across the road to the Merrimead but that doesn't seem to be much better. What a shame for the residents of Sampford Peverell

The Merrimeade, Sampford Peverell

went to this pub for a drink after a long and very pleasant walk alongside the nearby tiverton canal. interior is very drab and needs attention but beers were good met some friends in the lovely gardens (which were full of kids and their tattooed parents) and they said the food was good. shame the rest is a bit of a dump.

The Royal Inn, Horsebridge

A pub in a beautiful location but a little disappointing internally - called for a Sunday lunch on the way to Cornwall and had one of the best sirloin steaks ever - no Sunday roasts available - I went to the bar to give thanks for the good food and pay and was met by a stressed and not very friendly bar girl, despite the pub being near empty. What a shame - this could be an absolute gem of a pub with the right attitude and presentation.
Many thanks to the chef and butcher for a superb meal

The Holywell Inn, Holywell Lake

friendly and unpretentious village pub with an interesting and ever changing choice of real ales and a fantastic menu with steak nights on thursday's and saturday's and the carvery from heaven on sundays it seems well worth booking as it is always busy

The Anchor Inn, Hillfarrance

went here recently with a few drinking pals and had a couple of of pleasant pints with an amiable barman for company then the landlord came downstairs at 10 o clock sent the barman home washed the floor behind the bar and started to switch off the lights we took the hint and left for a more friendly place i won't be back in a hurry

The Fitzhead Inn, Fitzhead

pitiful pub which had been a gem for years before the present owners found out they didn't like running pubs someone may buy this place one day when the price is low enough

The Chapel, Cotford St Luke

i had a lovely pint or two of bass here a week ago and found the staff really friendly and very helpful - the food was mid priced for the area and well presented and tasted wonderful - this is a privately owned pub and it looks like the budget has run a little thin when it came to the exterior finish, hopefully this summer will see it's completion to match the dramatic interior of this brave venture
the "nearby pub" mentioned by dr pangloss is poor by comparison and should be avoided

The Worlds End, Bradford On Tone

run by mostly young and mainly friendly staff well designed dining pub with seemingly boil in a bag and microwave menu offerings not a "pub" in the true sense

Lowtrow Cross Inn, Taunton

great pub in a wonderful rural location with really good food and a friendly bunch of locals who support this place through all winds and weathers really good for exmoor ales and otter ales. always a pleasure to visit this charming old pub
